Not sure if many people saw my post in the tuning section (I had questions) but here is that thread https://www.svtperformance.com/threads/need-help-deciding-on-an-induction-system-gt40.1173688/

So the beginning of June I ordered the roller, and today I received some early pictures of the car body and center monocoque. The thread in the tuning section have some pics of what I am shooting for.

Yes, the numbers are painted on.

As I get more progress pictures I will post them.

Car "should be" completed in January-February (ready to drive)

Owning a GT40 has been a dream of mine for almost 20 years. I really have (and still am) sweating the details, but so far so good.

If you have questions fire away, I will try to answer.

Is this a gt40 or GT rep build?

This is a Superformance GT40. Superformance bought the right to call their cars "GT40" from Safir, so this car has a GT40 serial number that is part of the continuation of GT40's from the originals. My car is GT40P2393. Now while I can say it is a "real" GT40, I think of it as a continuation GT40. It is a rather accurate car to the originals, with many of the parts, dimensions, are exactly as the originals.

Are you doing Weber's or going with a regular 4150 setup?

I am going to use the Borla (TWM) injection system. As I posted in the tuning thread, I had wanted to go coyote with a SC, but in the end I wanted those pesky 8 throttle bodies popped up behind me in the rearview mirror, and the coyote didn't allow a proper "bundle of snakes".

It should look like this (sans the Roush valve covers). Craft Performance is building the engine.

Oh my God! That is one SWEET engine build. I predict that when you have the project finished and parked in your garage, that the first time you go into the garage to take it out for a drive you're going to literally stand there staring at it in complete awe! Yep! Complete awe!

Awesome! What made you choose to go with craft for the motor instead of roush? I am just curious. When my Dad bought his superformance he ordered a roush but that was maybe 16 years ago. I know both are the standard go-to builders

I heard/read something about Ford mistakenly sold the rights to the name with the rest of the transactions to this company and when the 05 GT came out, Ford wanted the name back, but this company wanted millions of dollars for it. Ford decided it was a bad financial move (one of many reasons no bail out, right?). This was how the name "Ford GT" came about because they had to brainstorm a new name for it.

Looks like a sweet build. the ITs with 180s will be awesome.

Correct, Ford let the name slip away after not renewing it and Safir came in and swooped it up to try and make some money off of it. I bumped into the owners of Safir at the BJ auctions when the FGT had just made its comeback and I talked to them about it. They were some sleazy people and I w as s happy to hear that Ford wasn't paying them a dime for the name. I remember them just being a trashy husband and wife who just bought up the names and hoped the manufacturers would eventually need them back someday.

Gorgeous build, can't wait to see it finished.

Your in Missouri, come by next year and we can go for a ride!

I did talk to Roush. I had Craft build my 496 FE motor in my Cobra 10 years ago. Disclaimer: This may sound bad but I do not mean it to. For me, Roush is more "commercial". I like the idea of easily being able to talk to the guy that actually does the assembly on my motor. I bought my 496 from Keith Craft, and since I bought that engine he sold the company to a fellow I met before when Keith owned the company, Lance Smith. Lance picks up the phone when you call (I like that), and he is a genuine guy. Lance spent (a lot of) time with me going through almost every component of the build, and gave me options. I did not find that to be the case with Roush, and in my conversations with them they seemed "busy" (don't hate me, just my observation). Last, with very much the same build as a comparable Roush motor, Roush was $5,000.00 more. The money did not make up my mind, it was rather a bonus.

I will post the engine build tonight.
