Make sure you have a solid pic on your Tinder profile and crush clam at every stop. Use a reputable babysitter app to cover you while hammering that stance. SVTP Dad of the year type shit.
I'm still married
Wow Dusten, this is going to be a lifetime memory for all of you. Even if it’s a total shitstorm and you have to fly one or both home half way.

Have fun and take lots of pictures!

Hell yeah Dusten. Looks like a fun trip!

I don't have much to add as I've never left the Southeast :(

Enjoy yourself, sir!

And thank you for your service.

Ambitious trip. Sounds like a sure lifetime memory for all. (Hopefully a good one...)

Back when our kids were young like yours we traveled Alberta to BC regularly to visit the in-laws. Only around 1200 km (700+ Mi.) We put the kids on wildlife spotting duty and would stop for any that were notable. (Moose, bears and bald eagles, etc. Not ducks and bullshit animals like squirrels.) Make it a bit competitive and it can kill a lot of hours. Back seat kid takes the screw on visibility so arbitrary award of extra points for a superior animal spotted from the back might be needed.

Hotels should, if possible, have water slides. Tire them out so they sleep a bit in the car.

Avoid anyone taking a sunburn part way through the trip. If this happens the trip is doomed.

Sounds great. Congrats on retirement. Good luck and Godspeed.

Sounds fantastic, a trip you all will remember the rest of your lives. My mom & dad took me across the country when I was 6 from NJ to Arizona, and into Mexico. I still have vivid memories of that trip and want to drive across myself one day soon.

My wife & I do a lot of road trips and I will say this. The planned parts are nice but it is the unplanned parts that you'll talk about for years.
Good luck and be safe. And take some pics to share.

i took a 10day 3k mile trip with my kids, 5 and 7, in my tundra pro this past winter. they absolutely loved it and did great. this is the second trip they took like this, the first one was only 7 days and 1400 miles when they were 3 and 5. my wife plans them and we see some cool shit. check out roadsideamerica.com for some ideas to see along the way
keep the tablets and phones charged and have fun!

I have been there once, and its a once in a lifetime thing i think. So we are going to stop at least. Remember these are kids, not someone who enjoys canyon carving, or driving good roads.

I spent the last year in Norfolk for the Navy. My family stayed in Washington. I retire from the Navy Friday.
Congratulations on your retirement. How many years in the Navy?

This is going to be a very memorable trip for you, and for your kids. Keep it loose as you plan, and be sure to try to see everything you all want to see along the way. Oh, and be sure to take the elevator ride to the top of the arch. Be warned, though, that the elevator buckets are SMALL. If I remember right, they only hold 4 people max. Your kids will enjoy it and the view from the top of the arch is awesome.

Have a great and memorable trip. Looking forward to follow-up pics and videos. ;)

I would try to stay near Coeur d'Alene instead of Spokane.. grab dinner or lunch here... https://www.meltzextreme.com/ in CDA.. It's incredible..
I'll check them out for food, but we have friends in Spokane we are staying with. I lived there for a year, and Walla Walla for 4. So we have a few friends on that side of the state.

CDA is gorgeous though.

I'll check out jam

I know you said you're only checking out the Arch when you go through St. Louis, but you might want to check out the City Museum if you have a minute and it's pretty close to the Arch: City Museum

Second this, especially for the kids. They will not want to leave, there is a ton of stuff to explore.

Well, nothing exciting today. They landed at the airport and we went to the hotel. Tomorrow starts the drive.
