I would love to drive a 2020 GT-500 for a week. Put it through its paces. And then drive a 2020 Corvette for a week. I would be very surprised if my choice after a week with each ended up being the Vette. I'm not nearly as excited about the GT-500 as I am about the new mid-engine Vette.

This is the biggest L ford has taken in a while
For reals. Took a few days to let the C8 soak in. Its a damn impressive thing that the Corvette team did.

The Ford GT is the superior car, but the the C8 will be the winner. Its always been about how many asses you can get into as many seats as you can make. With the C8 being a regular production car and the FGT being a Multimatic produced racecar for the road.... yeah C8 definitely just kicked Ford in the nuts.

So what's the price you think a z51, lt2 with the big wing would hit? That's close to what I'd want.

If the 495 hp is enough.

The Corvette is the only Chevy I really care about. This one checks all the boxes, and I hope to buy one in a few years. Outstanding by Chevy is my initial impression. I hope the performance is on par with the looks!
I said that about the C6 when it dropped, but then I saw the C7. So then I wanted a C7... But now I see the C8.

By the time I can get a C8 for $30k the C9 will be put...

My guess would be <$75K

Ha I'm over here thinking about what cheap ass beater I can buy. By the time I can afford this C8 the C10 will probably be here with an improved flux capacitor powering all four anti-gravity disks.

Because FCA busted out the Whale Dick and went dry and hard on GM with the Charger and Hellcat line up. GM also had to deal with its own internal competition, the CTS-V.

Besides, everyone called the SS a flop from the start, a bland early 2000's styled Chevy with an LS2 and automatic only for $50k? Hard Pass

SS has an LS3 and 2015-17 have either a 6 spd auto or manual. But the 14's are the best handling and quickest though, as the 2015-17 they detuned the engine PCM and the mag ride was softer sprung over the FE3 suspension that the 2014 had.

And more and more people are starting to notice the diamond in the rough that is the 14-17 SS/ Holden Commadore I can probably sell my SS for what I paid for it back in Feb and I put 3,000 more miles on it since then.

The ford GT is the superior car—today.

Wait until the niche c8 variants appear.

Rick James, aka GM, gonna be all over Fords ass from a performance perspective. It’s going to be UGLY.

So to get 495hp you need the Z51 package. This car with all its options Will easily bring $70k plus. Carbon pieces will not be cheap and that bigger wing. Rather have my Shelby for $80k and get most of that plus 760hp
Until the C8 Z06 comes out,.................lol
But seriously, I like both cars. If I was going to buy a 2020 C8 with the Z51 package or the new GT500, I would buy the new GT500.

Where it’s at is letting the C8Z come out and give it a few months of market saturation to happen then bam, the deals will come.

Except the C8 is 1/5 the price... Ford needs to give us a GT without all the carbon fiber and high dollar little race pieces that a average person can afford and drive. GM just proved it can be done. View attachment 1587538
What you guys keep forgetting when you say the GT is over rated, or ford should have made more, or ford should give us an affordable one. ITs because ford didn't care. They built that ****ing car spec'd to a race. They could have made more power, or a bigger engine, or made it heavier so it'd be cheaper. But instead they built it to do what they wanted. And they sold them all.

How? Ford literally has nothing that is segmented against this car. Ford hasn't built a ****ing 2 seater mass produced car since the 60s. Ford hasnt competed against the vette. Not in decades. Sure, the GT500 often gets lumped against it, but at the end of the day they are different kinds of cars, that are marketed to different kinds of people

The GT500 is a balls out muscle car that will also do very well on a track.

The Corvette, at least this model will never match the raw muscle feel this GT500 will.

Z06, different story, but even more money.

If you want precision, the corvette is your car.

That said, I am looking at both.

Anyone else find the base wheels shown on the C8 and earlier c7 stingrays extremely ugly? Completely takes the look away from the car IMO

I think you meant:

Never said the GT was over rated. Ford should care, they should make a stamped chassis version of the GT,mass produce it and sell a pile of them for people to actually enjoy. Like GM is going to do with the new C8. Ford had a chance to rival corvette and they didn't jump on the opportunity.
