so I bought my car with mm coil overs on all 4 corners I believe a 500 rate spring in the rear not sure of the front. I run a 315 Toyo tq. since I have owned the car over 2years I have been trying to adjust it so the rear drivers side will not rub the only one that does rub. I also rolled the fenders. It seemed to work for awhile with minimum rubbing. The other day I had a passenger in the car which I never have had and I basically wrecked a brand new drag radial again only the drivers side all highway driving rubbing when I went over the overpasses . I am done trying to fit the 315 and I do not want to go any higher with the car I like the stance as it sits will a 305 fit without any rubbing ? And whats a good tire to run since they don’t make tq in 305. Car has about 650rwhp would prefer a drag radial or close to one.

I run a 305 35 18 on my car. H&r race springs with no isos, pretty low. Rolled fenders and low pro IRS bolts. No rubbing. Ccw specd 11" wheels

I’m running a 315/35/18 on a 10.5
And as you can see it’s just not working out for me. I really just want to put a tire on that will not rub , so I can enjoy the car again. Sounds like the 305 is where I want to be.
I know the mt’s will hook great but how are they for highway driving not concerned about rain just performance wise

You want a 305/35 any brand I think will do you
Toyo's run wider than almost all other manufacturers.
I never ran a Toyo 315 for that reason
I did run Toyo R888 305/35 18 with no issues and still run those to this day

[bcolor=transparent]315/30 18 [/bcolor] (Michelin)
[bcolor=transparent]HR no isos [/bcolor]
[bcolor=transparent]Fender Flush Wheel[/bcolor]

[bcolor=transparent]Rolled Fenders[/bcolor]

** Also ran this same setup on a, '04 Comp Orange with FULL MM C/O's and suspension.

Judging from the carnage your fenders don't appear to be rolled enough. Those fine cuts at the top and gashes on the sidewall tell the whole story. I'd reroll them. Even my 305-35-18s on an 18x10 will rub that driver's fender under certain conditions, but it never cuts into the tire. Only a light scuff on the top of the shoulder which goes away with a bit more driving. Would hate to see you eat another nice tire thinking the difference between a 315 and 305 is that significant. It's really not (imo).

I’m definitely not looking to eat another tire . I want to solve this problem once and for all. I’m missing out on some nice driving weather. I will definitely try and roll them more I had a reputable shop roll them because I never had done it before and was nervous of the paint chipping. Maybe I can get it rolled and see if someone has a junk 305 tire and test drive it before I buy new.

Can you get some pics of the fender where it's rolled? A rolled fender shouldn't cut the tire as mentioned above. My 315's will rub sometimes depending on air pressure and how many people are in the car, but they don't cut anything.

Like others mentioned, fenders probably not rolled enough.

On my passenger side I had to roll them flush.

I vote Toyo r888 if you can find them. Or r888r.

No, it isn't. It is a mere 5mm per side in regard to width.

I ran the 315/35/18 toyo TQ for two years and thru 2 sets.....the past 6 years I've run 3 sets of 305/35/18 toyo r888. 18X11 CCW rim

The TQ defies logic on that sizing.....they run YUGE and sit a bit balloonish on the rim. But I actually liked the tire and never had it rub on the rolled flush fenders. I just ultimately went with the R888 as it was much better if caught in rain, better tire wear and it fits the rim more textbook.

You got a side shot of how low you are sitting? With a 500lb rear spring and depending on how worn your rear shocks are you might be getting a good bit of squat on bumps or hard accelerations. I know if you lay into the car and get going a good speed and hit a deviation in the road surface you can get some good suspension movement. I have sparked the stock k-member before over a good whoop in the road at 100mph or so.

Plus some people just run their cars ****in low! It looks awesome, but when you go to drive it you get stuff like this happening. I gave up running mine really low. Just put new inner splash shields on and don't feel like burning holes through them anymore.

I also agree you need to roll more if they are shredding your tires like that.

Oh and I just put toyo R888R's on mine 17x10.5 rear wheel. 315 size. The nitto 555R will run much narrower and I still spin these Toyo R888R's. I think to get these things to hold like people talk about you need some really warm street surfaces, Canada might be a bit too cold.

I’m at work so this is the only pic I have.
Car only has 9k miles so shocks shouldn’t be worn but u never know. I definitely get some good suspension movement when I’m doing 80 on the highway and go over the concrete over passes I cringe every time lol

I’m running 315/35/17 toyo r888r with H&R race springs with lower isolator. I have the low profile bolt and my fenders are not rolled. I get a tiny amount of rub on a bigger bump on the driver side. However nothing like the gouges on your tire. The fender rolling must have left a few sharp edges. I would think this would need to be corrected first. I would check the spring rate and shocks as well. Maybe your running a softer spring than you think which is causing the bottoming out.

You are lower than I am, but doesn't look to crazy. As long as you don't have sausage fingers how tight is the gap(2 fingers, 3 fingers) I have a little over 2.5" of clearance from the fender to top of my tire. I may close this by half an inch.

I have been keeping it wider due to running 28" slicks for the track, but never go anymore so I can close it a bit.

Maybe since you have coilovers just open the gap a bit and see if the issue stops?

I'm running a 305/35/18 M/T street and love this tire. Numbers are in my sig, have zero traction issues at all. Suggest looking at the tire specs to see just how much wider the toyo is compared to the M/T.

I can put almost 3 fingers in tight. It’s about 2.25”. I have been adjusting the coil overs and thought I had the problem fixed but once I put a passenger in the car with the added weight it shredded the tire.
I am gonna try what a lot of people have been saying to roll the fender again. I was feeling around and it’s a little rough on the back part of the fender where it meets the rear bumper so hopefully I can smooth that out.
