Good old MN 5th and trying to get into the top 3. Thank god the R senate is fighting. Weather isn't the only reason people bail on this state when they hit retirement.

Nice. Leaving dig in your pockets New Jersey soon and moving to the beach in that great tax haven state of Delaware. What a difference from Dirty Jersey......lol. Property taxes are #3 worst here in NJ and Delaware is #47 best on property taxes. I will be going from $8K a year taxes now on my 35 year old home to $800 dollars a year taxes on my 350K new home. It sounds unreal but its true.

I was surprised Delaware was so low.

I'm in Rhode Island. We are #6 woohoo. My state always ranks as "worst for business" or "worst state to retire" and all such other studies. My state is little more than an Oligarchy, defined as: government by the few, especially despotic power exercised by a small and privileged group for corrupt or selfish purposes.

No fn way Illinois is only #9. Just wait, we'll show you guys. Our dumb**** politicians just approved a $0.25/gal gas tax increase, and I have a 36-gal tank. Hooray! Another $9 per fill up!

I do too. One of my favorite things about our F150.

Being in the Northeast next to tax heavy states like Maryland, NJ and NY it is a surprise. I have owned a home there before and because of the low taxes many Fortune 500 companies setup their base in Wilmington for the tax benefits. Also in the southern part of the state there are Gov't backed farms with 1000's of acres that produce wheat, barley, soybeans and other products. They are good tax ratables that keep property taxes low. When I drive about 7 miles in from the Atlantic Ocean where my house is being built it feels like I am in the Midwest somewhere not near the beach with the amount of farmland and acreage. Its very nice.

Wow, I'm surprised that MA was so low at 19%. LOL Feels more than that sometimes.

Rhode Island,.......man that place for the most part is a SHIT HOLE. There are some great spots, but, I'd pass on that. Many of friends/coworkers live in Rhode Island.
I wonder what they are paying for with those taxes so high and the roads are so crappy, with no work and just a dirty city in general. (Just kidding, I know why the taxes are so high and it should infuriate any American.)

Never knew Tony that Rhode Island had a higher tax burden than NJ and CT. What is up with New Hampshire having the #1 property tax liability. Just can't see that.

I don't like it at all. It's got some great areas, but for the most part,......I'll pass.

I was there once to see a car but know many people who have been to Newport to see the mansions. My areas going north have been mostly all Mass. Did some training for work twice around Boston and have vacationed on Cape Ann in the Rockport/Gloucester area and went to Salem. Have been in Boston many times. My brother went to school at Berklee college of music and I started visiting Boston in the 70's. It was a real trip visiting there back then......lol.
