First episode didn’t get into too much detail of what the actual cause was. It was centered on the explosion, immediate aftermath, and ensuing confusion. Plenty of back and forth with “it’s not that bad/yes it is”; “keep the core covered/there is no core.”

As I mentioned in another thread; I already had issues with the trailer, but I enjoyed the first episode. Giving them enough rope to hang themselves with so to speak.

As a disclaimer, I operated/maintained nuclear reactors for over 20 years.

I mean.....really. What doe a "nuclear reactor operator" actually do?

I just watched the first episode earlier today. I like it so far. If the kind of BS that is already being portrayed really happened though, and there's no reason to think it didn't, I'm sorely disappointed and disgusted. I couldn't imagine being there at the time, and it's definitely a bucket list trip.

Have you guys seen the trailer for new The Watchmen show they have been showing on HBO? With GOT ending this could be a good series after this Chernobyl series ends as well.

I have always really liked The Watchmen series and I feel they created the show so that they could make it relevant enough again to make a Doomsday Clock movie, which for those who dont know, is a current DC comic series where they reveal that The Watchman universe and the DCEU is the same or related. I dont think there is a conclusion to it yet but the popular theory is that when Dr Manhattan said he was going to go off and create his own world and possibly life too that ends up being the world full of super heroes that everyone knows, or at the least Dr Manhattan is responsible for meta-humans. It's really interesting what they did and not to get off topic on this thread but figured I would mention it if anyone was wondering since they are showing more trailers for it. Can start it's own thread if it ends up being interesting.

Just finished the second episode. I’ve been reading up on the disaster and mistook the guys in the first episode manually operating the valves as the ones at the end of the second.

One thing I find odd. Jared Harris seems to find roles where he always hangs himself. I wonder if his agent is given explicit instructions to find suicide by hanging roles.

Went to HBO on Demand lastnight after reading this thread.
I don't know if I am getting old, or if I am carrying shit around from deployments I don't know about, but that 1st Episode was raw.

Went out to my garage today and smelt an unfamiliar odor and now I'm paranoid
