A buddy of mine was over today and said the same. I think I might get a welder and give it a go.
IMHO the best way to go is to get a set of Maximum Motorsports full length and then have your welder guy put them in along with a matrix brace and jacking rails.

yeah, wasn't registered this year, just sort of walked around to check it out real quick- i don't think this location is as cool as the "snake pit" at knotts, though!

but overall the show was awesome, as usual.
Yeah. It wasn't as cool being out with the normies this time around. Still a decent show though.

^ would doing this be the same as getting the stifflers fit system? Is one better than the other? I have a coupe and more want the jacking rails but I’ll get the whole system if it’s beneficial.

Basically yes. I went with the Stifflers set up because I wanted to get everything in one place. Plus I think I got in on a sale. It was a long time ago. I do remember there being a difference between not having the jacking rails and having them. We ran out of welding gas the first time so we couldn't finish. But the jacking rails are awesome to have.

the beauty of what I did over stifflers was cost. I think stifflers and some of the others are way to proud of their product. you have to have a good welder though.

Did you do the install with carpet and all still in the car? I’ve heard both ways

I did not do it. I had it done. and I was in Iraq when they did it. for weld in through the floors you DO have to be extremely careful or you can set the car on fire. these are not through the floor since I never plan on racing this one so I suspect it was done with the carpet in the car

FWIW I didn't remove the carpet in mine. But you do have to remove the side skirts to weld in the jacking rails.
