Anybody have a contact for Steve other than here? My payment was returned with an “insufficient address” sticker on the envelope.

Or maybe post up where you mailed a check...

Thanks

Has anyone who bought the hood actually installed it with the latch kit? I am trying to install it and the latch kit is not going to work without seriously grinding on the latch. It's hard to explain but the latch kit is way too thick for the hood latch to engage.

Did you have to slam your stocker to close it??? I know I did, couldnt close it by pressing on it. Have you tried the (iirc) no more hood slam mod. I believe you move the latch up a 1/4" or so, cant remember the details but Im pretty sure I will need to do that when I install. Gonna be traveling next week so I wont get to it until after that.

Did someone else fat one of the extra 50/50 hoods? I sent payment after messaging back and forth with Steve and he’s a nowhere to be found.

Hasn’t cashed the check so I’m guessing someone got the hood?

I did the hood latch mod on the stock hood. This is a completely different issue. The hood latch has about a 1/2 inch clearance and the hood with the latch kit is about 3/4 of an inch thick. There is physically no way the latch will engage without grinding it.

I will take pictures and show you what I mean. It’s hard to explain.

Here are some pictures. I didn't take a picture of it, but i already grinded the secondary latch to get that to fit. I messaged Steve to see what he says, but it looks like i either have to get some hood pins or grind the primary latch also.

Wanted 1 of these so bad, but I had to buy a trans controller instead at the time. Kind of feel I dodged a headache or 2. Not having to deal with it though.

Reminds me of the import days, waiting for the slow boat from china. 8 months later only to find out the part was damaged at the port. Wait another 8 months for a replacement.

Yeah, except I did that with the secondary latch and it doesn’t hold like it should when I shake the hood. I’m not doing that to the primary latch too.

I ordered some aerocatch hood pins and will install those instead. Bottom line is, there shouldn’t be any modification needed to install the latch kit.

Honestly, with his lack of communication, it taking so long, and now the latch kit issue I should have saved my money.

The hood looks good though.

Even with all the issues Im still glad I got one finally. At least once I get it on the Cobra safely that is, gonna just go ahead and get the aero catch pins.

I did the aerocatch pins when I got mine last go round.
I agree there shouldn't be any modification to install but hey, its hotrodding. Hood looks and performs great. You guys wont be disappointed

How do you like the aerocatch pins? Do you have any pics of the underside of the hood with them installed?

I know it’s been months, but I don’t have the free time like I use too and this took a lot of 5-10 min a day to get to completion. I wanna share what I did to help with what some of you guys have had to deal with.

First on the previous post you’ll notice the gap between the out side plate and the fiberglass cause when they did the mold the factory had the steal part for the latch blah blah blah.. anyways it didn’t turned out to be so flat. So I sanded the surrounding area down to be flush so I wouldn’t need a filler piece because, eventually the stainless would start to sag around where the latch grabs. I wanted the out side plate to sit flush with no gaps and to help with the thickness issue. Then I purchased some M5 flush stainless steel Allen head screws, nuts and lock washers. I used a universal countersink which I like to call it a suicide cause it has so cage so you can’t set the depth. I used a drop of super glue to hold the lock washer and just tightened it all up. I used stainless hardware so I don’t have to deal with rust or dissimilar metal corrosion in the future. It turned out well and I haven’t had any problems, so I just wanted to share with you guys. Hope it helps some.

P.S. For what ever reason the last picture under "attached files"
you have to click on at the bottom, it shows the thickness with no gap
