Anyone ever try this? I've tried to search but had no luck. They seem like a good bang for your buck. I had a friend get them to work on a s197 and they are decent with a good pad. One of the few things that bugs me about the 03 04 cobras is the brake contact between the rotor and the pad is minimal and I'd love to have something that grips much better and will resist fade. Anyone have the "big brake" kits and how do they compare to stock

I have seen at least one car with the CTS-V calipers but the last time that I checked there was no "kit" to make them work. Do you happen to have a link?
funny enough I currently have a ctsv and I will say the brakes on that 4490lb turd are pretty good
I saw the link posted above I just did not see what it looked like on the car, in relation to how much of the rotor the pads will cover

I was talking to a guy that makes the kit and this is what he told me:

"The kit is $400 and includes the 2 brackets, hardware, instructions, and transfer punch to assist with the spindle mods. The kit uses 14" 07-12 GT500 rotors and calipers from 09-12 Gen.2 CTS-V. It also requires the use of either Team Z or UPR tubular a-arms to aid in bracket and caliper clearance as the calipers mount vertically."

My problem is I have MM A-arms and I dont want to change them so I passed.

Interesting. I wonder what the difference between the MM A-arms and the UPR A-arms is?

Any links or way to check the kit out

He mentioned the MM control arms so I'd guess the MM k member. Plus I'm running the MM set up and my wheels poke a bit. I'm not crazy about it either.

Sorry yes it's the Full MM K-Member kit.

Any links or way to check the kit out

@ninety5fiveoh is the one who makes the CTS-V kit. This is a picture of them on a car. I think it is his car:

in regards to the comments about the wheels sticking out too far. there are a couple remedies for this.

First, the fully torqued kit states that a deeper offset wheel is needed, and the s197/s550 wheels work correctly.

second would be to use either fox body front control arms (1 inch shorter) or adjustable arms, to bring them back in, if you wanted to use the standard sn95 offset.

I bought the ftr brembo kit, and 2012 gt500 brembos. I got a pair of s550 offset forgestar f14 18x9 and matching 17x10.5 rears in the correct sn95 offset. Ill get them on in the next couple weeks and update with pictures.

Great alternatives but for what advantage? Getting new wheels is probably the last resort I think most people would want to make. Especially for those of us with wheels that we love, like my Rovos. And my Griggs set up is set perfectly and cost an arm and a leg, so that's not going to change. @Lstruck03 , not saying you made a bad choice or anything like that, i'm sure they work great, but that's a lot of extra work for a little bit more braking.

I see your point, and for someone who is content with their setup such as you, this wouldn't be the option for you to take.

The thread is about putting s550 brakes on, so the op is looking for a new braking alternative, and probably for a much better price than off the shelf kits.

In my situation, I didn't have wheels, and knew I wanted the brembos, so I got a decent deal on black Friday for them. I chose the brembo kit due to cost, and I chose the bigger brakes because k have plans for 1/2 mole racing this year. I'm planning to hit 180+ and I just so have confidence in the stock brakes.

I saw a Terminator over the weekend with the adapter kit and I couldn’t stand how far the front wheels stick out with the spacers. Not my cup of tea.

Wish you took a pic. I've been wondering how bad it looks.
I have a pair of GT500 calipers, buy I just cant bring myself to order that kit. Seems dangerous. I'm all set with spacers behind my rotors, and an extra 1.5" of track width.
Think I may throw my calipers up for sale and grab a Wilwood 14" Superlite kit.
