What do the pros use to help protect against the fading of exterior black plastic & seals? Preferably something that just doesn't wash off after the first rain.

Coat them. It'll last at least 12months or maybe longer.

Clean them really well first. Then prep them with an IPA wipedown or the like. Then coat. Done. It'll look great for a long time.

Any recommendation on brand of coating?

I use some trim restoration products as well...and then coat over them to 'lock' it in!

As far as trim coatings: Pretty much pick your poison, they are all pretty darn good. My go to is 22ple and I've been using IGL Trim now for a while and really like it.

I've used 22ple, Carpro Dlux, Adam's trim coating, IGL,

Been using Back to Black for at least 15 years. I'm sure there maybe better products, just haven't used it in them yet.

I use 303 Marine Aerospace Protectant since it offers superior UV protection.

I was watching a video on YT and the user recommended this product while cleaning his AE86. Grabbed a bottle of it and that stuff is the shit!! Not cheap by any means but the outcome is spectacular.

I was curious about this stuff called Solution Finish Black Plastic & Vinyl Trim Restorer. The video I saw looked like it worked really well. Especially if the trim is faded already.

I'll have to check this stuff out for my project, I already got 303 Aerospace convertible top cleaner

I use Back to Black when I dress up in blackface.

We better get you down to VA ASAP

Solution Finish works great. I use it when I am restoring faded trim. Be careful, it can and will stain stuff you don't want it on. I will also sometimes then coat over it after it 'cures'.

I wonder how the new Mothers CMX Ceramic spray coating would work? Tempted to pick some up and spray onto the black plastics of the wife's CR-V. Stuff is pretty cheap and the few reviews I've read seem promising:
