Rumor of the Moment | All-New "Mustang Week" at Daytona Beach, FL | July 15th-20th 2019

SVTP was privy to a little insider information about a new Ford-Centric event preparing to break cover next year. It will be titled Mustangs At Daytona, and is set to take place July 15th to 20th, 2019. If those dates sound familiar it's likely because Mustang Week at Myrtle Beach used to be held around that week before moving the event to September in 2017.

Some feel the move of Mustang Week to later in the year has been detrimental to the event, while many others are eternally grateful for the reduced temperatures and hotel prices the tourist off-season brings. The organizers of Mustangs at Daytona seem to be hoping to capture a sizable portion of the former group. Considering some of the unpleasant encounters with the MBPD that have made their way in video form to YouTube, there may be a crowd of Mustang owners that have been turned off to the Myrtle Beach area. While I consider most of these complaints of police action to be baseless, there are certainly a few that are somewhat questionable. We've heard from more than one Mustang enthusiast that they won't be returning to MB.

However, this is not the first time someone has tried to launch an event competitive to Mustang Week. Back in 2007 a group put together an event called Super Stang Fest, also held in Daytona. At one point they even tried to advertise it as The Official Mustang Week, so we all knew what they were aiming for. For whatever reason, that event only survived a couple years and for the most part has been forgotten. It'll be interesting to see if this crew can make FL in July a more appealing destination.

The organizers of Mustangs at Daytona appear to still be in the planning stages of the event, but they are currently soliciting sponsors. We have received word from sponsors of Mustang Week at Myrtle Beach that they have been approached with sponsorship proposals from the M@D team, but not much else. We currently don't have any information about the event beyond a date and location. One thing is for certain; July 2019 will be here before you know it, and an event of this magnitude needs a lot of press over a long period of time to be successful. The soon events are announced the better chance these guys have of drawing a crowd.

Since I don't have any more information about this event, I'll just leave you all with a pic of the Kohr Motorsports SCUDO Mustang Racecar:

Cool.. Reason I asked is that group which they named the event Mustang Jam has being saying they was going to do the event for years had dates planned and at last minute they would cancel it. Is SVTP going to be in a joint venture..

Nope.

I can tell you that daytona pd will hand out more tickets than you can imagine. I go to the turkey rod run every year and they are everywhere. It could be a lot more fun than it is.

Im glad to see that the word is getting out about our event. After speaking with the Creators at Mustang Week and PITS events that members of our organization attend and will Continue to attend we are not trying to replace or duplicate or even over throw these great programs. Mustangs At Daytona is another week long event for car enthusiasts to bring their families and have a great time and see friends and beautiful cars.
The schedule is set for the week long event, multiple track days of various types, family friendly cruises, car show and awards shows all on the infield of Daytona Motor Speedway. There will be parties and events at night as well including a charity poker tournament.
Why people feel that any show or event that comes about is challenging MW or any other program is ludicrous and like saying there can only be one so all regional shows and clubs have to not put on events because it’s not MW.
When the dates were selected I can tell you I was none the wiser that it was the same dates as MW used to be as I’m pretty new personally to the Mustang community and simply chose dates based on my family, my fellow organizers families and desires (schools etc).
I’m happy to discuss the show with anyone and everyone is welcome to attend. We have a huge support from the local community and same rules apply as any show you go to you drive around on the city streets and act a fool then the local PD will do what they have to but I assure you they are used to loud vehicles remember Daytona is home to Bike Week and they get loud.
Check our website and FB and Instagram pages.

Hell no. We've been supporting MW for over a decade, and that isn't going to change. I'm not a fan of knockoffs.

I would venture to say that the crowd in town for MW was the biggest yet. I just think people are coming and going from the main events rather than spending the full day at them. Also, there's way more independent side events than ever before. I think we're going to bring back one of our previous events by popular demand.
Calling our show a “knockoff” is like calling your blog a “knockoff” of every other car enthusiast blog. MW is a great program but honestly not the Holy Grail of car shows and there can be more than 1. If your organization is unfamiliar it’s best to not degrade and talk bad about that which you don’t know better yet ask those that do know the facts and not make yourself look bad.

Don't get triggered. Considering the dates you've chosen, schedule of events, and the history of previous events in the same location; comparisons were to be expected. I'm interested to see how the event progresses.

It’s going well and the turnout is expected to be high with over 800 cars already committed. It’s hard to not get “triggered” when everyone wants to accuse and assume instead of just simply ask. Was same reason we had a lengthy conversation with MW people because someone wanted to speak without getting facts and start trouble. This is a HUGE community and multiple car show events is not hurting one or the other and only gives owners the opportunity to show off their rides and meet up and have fun more than once or twice a year.

Ok been sitting back and watching this and now I believe I need to say something. You say "we had a lengthy conversation with MW people" - but I do know who are talking about, but he only stated to me that he only talked to one person and that being Jeff. This guy Jeff talked to is a MW Support Team person (not one of the 3 Original Staff members) and he is well known around the US Mustang and Saleen Community and a very straight forward and trusting person. He said he explained the info that others and he was seeing when MAD started posting info and dates for their event. It was the exact dates MW had for several years and also had a lot of the same business model events copied. He said Jeff also explained he didn't come to MW but would be coming next year and wasn't copying anything. That he has only had a Mustang for 2 years and wanted to do something near him for as he was in South GA. He said he wasn't trying to take away from any ones event. Now we all know by reading this thread and reading Facebook, that MW in fact did not lose attendance but grew attendance for the 2nd year in a row for the September dates. It's obvious as Michael Johnson's article "Best Week Ever" in MM&FF's issue states it. Anyhow back to the topic at hand. I do know that one MAD Staff member is obviously mad the dates for MW moved as she has displayed her opinion on line and to vendors and still shows up at the MW events. Heck it don't matter when a event is held - someone will not be able to come, it maybe due to kids in school or kids playing travel ball, an unexpected sickness or death, a car breaks down or financial reasons...you just can't please everyone. But their is no use of going out here on social media displaying your drama for all to see just because your kids can't come. Heck my kids are in college and my oldest took a couple of days off to come and is surviving her last year of college, it didn't disrupt her schooling. Anyway, drifting off topic again LOL. Just man up and say hey yeah we have watched your MW event and we took your concept and renamed it MAD or PITS (that's another sore spot - as they copied their business model, sponsorship proposal almost to a tee and top 75 Award and then the Kevin Brown and his wife go around boasting they are going to cause people not to come to MW and talk trash about MW) to have our event be the mega event from the get go. Just because you say you have 800 Mustangs committed don't mean squat. People can post all they want to and say yeah it's going be grand see you there, but that don't mean they are committed. 800 committed???? Really, come on - so you have these 800 peoples name and addresses and their paid entry fees - right? I didn't think so. Just like PITS boasting they had 600 cars last year - LOL just ask one of the largest Mustang Vendors on the East Coast what he said to them when he asked for numbers LOL. It took MW since 2002 to become as big as they are. Several weeks upon weeks traveling to meet the vendor in person at their place to sell and secure sponsorship is how they done it. Not by going to MW and bothering the vendor that is their set-up, when sometimes that person is not the person you need to talk to. I seriously doubt anyone will match the registration and attendance that MW has within 8-10 years. Now if you give away 1,000,000 cash in a drawing, that might boost up your attendance, but then that's all they are there for is the money LOL. But hey you might get that much when the title sponsor i heard is around $15,000! Have your events and have fun but don't copy business models. Be ethical to your Mustang community. Make your event unique and come up with different ideas instead of copying what others do. The event from 2007 found out quickly with a cease and desist paper to end it now before law suits come into play especially when they tried naming it "The Official". Again all over one person that got ticked off and wanted to cause drama. People can say what they want to but no way anyone will ever top MW ever! I will always come to MW, with or without my 03 GT Convertible.

First the conversation was with someone who was brought to my attention as one of the members of MW. Correct I’m new to the mustang community and had no way of knowing MW business model or previous dates etc. I have spoken with several different people about events they would like to participate in but alas that doesn’t mean it’s “stealing” anything I mean for the love of god heaven forbid someone hold a car show for Mustang enthusiasts and actually have a track event because now I’m copying someone else and should be banned from holding said event? I was signed up for MW and yep had to cancel my plans due to my kids and because someone else who may or may not have had a bad experience voiced their opinion had no bearing on my plan to build this program. In the almost 2 years now that I’ve owned my mustang I’ve been to multiple shows and events but clearly until now never have I been harassed or bullied about having an event. We will be at PITS again this year and I’ll be at MW this year as planned and I’ll be at Coker and I’ll be at Mustang Museum event and all the regional shows as I have been last year. I don’t tell organizations that their car show is just like someone else’s car show even if they usually all have the same format.
We have never claimed to be replacing MW and never told anyone that they shouldn’t go to their show and come to ours.
Talking to companies that sell parts to the car community or saying they are exclusive to one show or another realistically would be shooting one in the foot I mean seriously wouldn’t they just want to have the opportunity to sell as much as possible? Anyway there’s always someone who has to think that everyone is out to affect another but can’t understand that maybe we just more options and more events. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come to our event and we support the others events as well as far as our numbers unless your running my books you really can’t speak on that now can you? My opinion if you don’t wish to attend or feel negatively about anyone holding a car show that’s not MW don’t attend and definitely shouldn’t speak on facts you don’t know.
