I know it has been said already, but the price of new full size trucks are just silly. a 2 cyl Silverado can easily clip $40k+ and is considered a value option.

How did we get to this point? You can legit buy a nice audi/bmw/mb for the cost of a pick up truck nowadays...wow

all the safety crap drives stuff up, all the weight loss stuff to meet MPG requirements etc...

the capabilities of the newer trucks is light years beyond previous trucks. Hell, a 2006 F350 had a tow rating of anywhere from 8 - 12k from a quick google search, you can option an F150 up to around 11k lbs now (Im not a fan of doing that but that's another story).

6k into a new truck is a light hit. Good plan. I traded an 06' powerstroke w/32k miles, nearly mint for a new 16' power stroke & the balance was manageable for a new truck.
Way better than going 65k+ in debt.
Solid trade in, rebates, X-plan made it doable in my mind.

I don't believe any of that.
All that same safety shit goes into cars too and you can still get decent price cars that even though they have gone up they have not doubled like trucks.

When they offer 96 month loans why not keep raising the price. The monthly payments the same.
This I believe is a big part of it.
When the average man started buying F250 diesels because it was cool and not because he actually needed one is when the shit started.
Just as diesel prices not are higher than gas.
They will because they can.......................

One way to get around it is buy used. You have to put it some time but mint used trucks are out there if you are willing to travel.

It took me 2 months to find the exact truck I wanted and I had to travel 8rs to go pick it up. In June I found a 17 F150 with a MSRP for 55 and I picked it up for 36, truck had 6k miles on it. I purchased it from a private seller.

Deals are out there just have to put in the work to find them.

This. At this point it's going to be tough to get me to buy something new unless the deal is super right or I'm looking for something special.

for me, i think im in the minority for the fact that I usually keep a car the length of the loan plus 18+ months. I don't mind paying a fair price for a good vehicle, but I could see things getting out of control if I got a new car every 2-3 years. i'd like a light duty truck, but I don't need one, which makes it very hard to justify these prices.

Inflation will ultimately turn America into a fascist or communist country at this rate.

Shut down the fed.

No need...

Obama did it for him and 300 mil other Americans for 8 years straight.

We’re all lucky we can even hold a meal down long enough to get the nutrients processed.

The essential costs of living as well as just about everything else is far exceeding the government's reported inflation rate. Not just far exceeding but comically blowing it out of the water. The economy can't sustain what's happened in the past decade. If you thought the housing bubble crash was bad you ain't seen nothing yet.

My wife and I both make good money but I couldn't afford a new truck without basically living in it, financing it for a decade or giving something else up.

I get a chance to check out the stickers on the latest models in the railyard and you're talking $60k for a fairly equipped vehicle. To me that's insane.

I'll gladly buy used and have and am happy.
