Here's one that ain't random or useless:

It only takes 1.5% by volume of the atmosphere to be carbon monoxide to kill you.

Due to a fluke of chemistry, CO bonds to hemoglobin much more tightly than plain 'ol O2. So even though it is only a small amount of what you are breathing, your red blood cells get loaded up with it and all of a sudden you have got real problems. Not for long, though, if you don't clear the area and seek immediate medical attention.

In comparison to gasoline, nitro-methane is a low heat-content fuel, with a very low air to fuel ratio, and slow burning. These defects actually turn out to be the keys to the power it makes. Because the heat content is low, and the air-to fuel ratio is so low, by the time you add enough fuel to meet stoichiometry, you have a lot more fuel in the cylinder. So even though it has a lot less power than gas, there's a hell of a lot more of it. The slow burn also helps the engine make power, as the combustion event initiated in the cylinder is still going on by the time the exhaust valve opens. The result of that is: the piston gets pushed all the way through the power stroke. The rest of the burn happens in the header tube, one of the reasons for the awesome flame display of a nitro-methane burning engine.

The drawback is: if the fuel/air charge does not ignite on any given cycle, and the cylinder is then given another air/fuel charge on top of the previous one, the engine will encounter hydraulic lock, as the volume of liquid fuel in the cylinder now exceeds the capacity of the combustion chamber with the piston at or near TDC.

Nitromethane engines also routinely burn out the electrodes of the spark plugs very early in the run, and diesel the rest of the way down the track as the incoming air/fuel charge splashes against the super-hot exhaust valve. Long as the magnetos and plugs get you the first sixty feet, you good for the rest as long as you can keep the volume of fuel to the cylinders.
All true.

It has been my experience today that if you can work three or more of these gems above into a single conversation the person you are talking to will simultaneously think you are a genius and a pompous blowhole.
What are you smoking Johnny? What gems?

The Japanese honey bees are incapable of killing a giant Hornet one on one so just two Hornets can annihilate a colony of bees by decapitation. As a defense mechanism the bees simultaneously swarm the attacking Hornets and drag them to the depths of their hive where they begin to shake their abdomens which increases their collective temperature. With the Hornets trapped by the attacking bees, the bees raise the temperature up to 117 degrees. The Hornets die at a temperature of 116 degrees while the bees can withstand up to 118 degrees!

Okay. Go up to the first person you meet tomorrow and blast off about:
- The Japanese honey bee thing.
- All the time travel stuff.
- The fact that 03Cobra#694 can't stop looking at women's boobs.

Ask them what they think of you now. Seriously, they will think you are really informed about the nature and physics stuff and will understand the boobs part when you explain you are talking about a respected moderator. They will recognize your genius for sure.

But they will also think you are patronizing them and proving you are much smarter than they are. This won't win you many points but don't worry. You probably won't ever see the person again anyway.

And, I don't smoke anything. But for what it's worth, I have to make a decision quite soon. Reefer becomes legal here in 8 days. I dabbled quite a bit as a kid but haven't smoked anything in over twenty years.

Do I go for it of just not bother? My Mom is going to try it for the first time and have a party for her grand kids who are already quite good at it from what I can see. It's a dilemma, that's for sure.

All the best.

Gene Simmons real name is not Simmons.

Gene Simmons is an Israeli American. Despite his liberal outlook, he is more conservative than most of the right wing.

Gene Simmons speaks German, English, Hebrew, Hungarian, and Japanese.

Gene Simmons has a vast knowledge of Theology.

Gene is Jewish, if you didn't already know this.

I thought it was considered a percussion instrument....?

...and Maximus said to Commodus, "the time for honoring yourself will soon come to an end."

It's a hybrid, combining elements of both strings and percussion. There were early attempts at using bells instead of strings, and that line of thought still persists in forms like the Fender Rhodes Electric Piano.

The AF-16 was the worlds first true Assault Rifle not the Stg-44, but due to WWI and the hard ship of getting equipment and supplying of the Russian forces they only made about 700 of them before the Reds took over and temp. shut production down before starting production again in late 1921. The Stg-44 though was the first to be mass produced.

Another one Russia was the only nation during WWI to order equip and use lever action rifles during the war with the Obr 1915 Winchester or the M1895 Winchester Musket in 7.62X54R

The deadliest tornado in US history holds 3 records. Longest duration (3 1/2 hours), longest path (219 miles), and fastest traveling (73 MPH). It also has the highest death toll in the US at 695 people. The fastest rotational wind speeds recorded for a US tornado is 302 MPH.

Pick your poison.
