Rumor of the Moment | All-New "Mustang Week" at Daytona Beach, FL | July 15th-20th 2019

SVTP was privy to a little insider information about a new Ford-Centric event preparing to break cover next year. It will be titled Mustangs At Daytona, and is set to take place July 15th to 20th, 2019. If those dates sound familiar it's likely because Mustang Week at Myrtle Beach used to be held around that week before moving the event to September in 2017.

Some feel the move of Mustang Week to later in the year has been detrimental to the event, while many others are eternally grateful for the reduced temperatures and hotel prices the tourist off-season brings. The organizers of Mustangs at Daytona seem to be hoping to capture a sizable portion of the former group. Considering some of the unpleasant encounters with the MBPD that have made their way in video form to YouTube, there may be a crowd of Mustang owners that have been turned off to the Myrtle Beach area. While I consider most of these complaints of police action to be baseless, there are certainly a few that are somewhat questionable. We've heard from more than one Mustang enthusiast that they won't be returning to MB.

However, this is not the first time someone has tried to launch an event competitive to Mustang Week. Back in 2007 a group put together an event called Super Stang Fest, also held in Daytona. At one point they even tried to advertise it as The Official Mustang Week, so we all knew what they were aiming for. For whatever reason, that event only survived a couple years and for the most part has been forgotten. It'll be interesting to see if this crew can make FL in July a more appealing destination.

The organizers of Mustangs at Daytona appear to still be in the planning stages of the event, but they are currently soliciting sponsors. We have received word from sponsors of Mustang Week at Myrtle Beach that they have been approached with sponsorship proposals from the M@D team, but not much else. We currently don't have any information about the event beyond a date and location. One thing is for certain; July 2019 will be here before you know it, and an event of this magnitude needs a lot of press over a long period of time to be successful. The soon events are announced the better chance these guys have of drawing a crowd.

Since I don't have any more information about this event, I'll just leave you all with a pic of the Kohr Motorsports SCUDO Mustang Racecar:

sounds to me svt is looking to cut ties and prop up another event that would better suit them in some fashion . that said , I know of a shady backroom deal that went on this year at MW that I cant comment on but it was inevitable that the tree would start to splinter but Daytona in July ??? No thank you, Ill just keep staying in sunset and driving down to myrtle for the events and to watch idiots get carted off to jail

A "shady backroom deal" that you won't share the details on, yet you bring it up anyway? I put no stock in unsubstantiated rumors, and I doubt few people do.

This year at MW was pure crap. Police everywhere and people going to jail for revving. I was not down in my mustang for most of the week but I would of definitely felt targeted if I would of been in mine.

I would go to Daytona but that cuts out a ton of other people. Of course MW lost a ton of people and revenue when they went to September. Back in the day MW was FUN, it was summer and when I was in school we could just go. Tons of friends and families would be down there. It definitely still is fun but driving around to meets everywhere across MB is a pain lol.

Hell no. We've been supporting MW for over a decade, and that isn't going to change. I'm not a fan of knockoffs.

I would venture to say that the crowd in town for MW was the biggest yet. I just think people are coming and going from the main events rather than spending the full day at them. Also, there's way more independent side events than ever before. I think we're going to bring back one of our previous events by popular demand.

I was one that was targeted at MW this yr. I was literally cruising thru Murrels Inlet at dusk, at 30 mph in 4th gear, going as quiet as possible, minding my own business when a trooper comes flying up behind me and stops me for my window tint. I pleaded my case respectfully, stating my car passes my home states inspection. The officer told me, doesn't matter as it did not meet SC law. In stead of giving a written warning, he gives me a ticket. I said thank you and was on my way. Now I have the option of flying down to fight a ticket or pay the fine. SC is 880 miles away so driving down again is out of the question.

Meanwhile, 1/2-1 mile away (Beaver Bar) there are cars doing burnouts in the road with people lining the streets. Yet I was targeted for driving a Mustang.

MW definitely left a sour taste in my mouth this yr. I have not made up my mind yet, but bringing my car down for future MW's might be out of the question. I'd still attend without my car.

Daytona is out of the question. Not going to travel for 2 days to attend a few day long car event and make the trip home. I wish them luck.

option 3 - see about contacting a ticket clinic type traffic lawyer. They're already at the courthouse all the time anyway and might be able to do away with a tint ticket on the cheap and you'd come out somewhere inbetween

I have anxiety issues, so I never go to shows anyway unless I know a lot of people that I will be around. But Daytona will be a great venue, I have no doubt.

There are a crap ton of side events. They are fun but I think that is why I was tired of running all over MB. It may of been a big crowd but it does not seem like it compared to the summer.

Plus no baddies on the beach.

That was the only place open during the hurricane. It's got a new owner and had a complete remodel. The food is really good too.

you guys can doubt all you want, totally irrelevant to me, but it's not my place to put this business out there as I was just a sideline spectator and not a party involved. I will regardless be at all the MW events as I have a beach house down there and I enjoy it regardless.

I was at SBB on Wednesday night for the retro party, and after about 2 hours of non-stop burnouts in the street I decided to head out. Keep in mind about every 1/2 hour an unmarked charger would drive thru the middle of the crowd of people (and rising smoke that never fully dissipated) just to let folks know "hey we're here" but they didn't flash the lights or do anything, just drove thru as a reminder. At one point a fully marked sheriff's SUV rolled thru, which the Bullseye GT350 was right next to, and as soon as the sheriff rolled past she lit up a massive burnout, no probs. Well I finally go to headout, do a mediocre burnout in my 03 HD truck, nothing crazy like some of the folks, and as soon as I roll thru the end of the crowd there was a row of about 8 cop cars and the 1st one lit up and bit me. Apparently at 11:00 they decided to start enforcing, and my ticket was at 11:00 on the dot. Lucky me. Little lame they didn't just roll thru again with the lights on this time as a sign that hey it's over, since they already rolled thru several times and didn't do anything just let it continue, to suddenly enforce it with tickets. But hey, it is what it is. I just shrug it off as earning my MW stripes lol.

I'll go back again. I've been to MB plenty of times before in the summer, and while it is more crowded, it's crowded with other folks on vacation that have nothing to do with MW. I don't think making MW during that season makes it any better, just more crowded. It was nice going just barely at the start of the offseason where hotels were easy to get, nothing was overly crowded, the weather was still great for the beach, and the traffic was just mustangs lol.

As for another event, M@D, sounds cool (well actually hot lol). Goodluck to the organizers as it's hard to coordinate something that big, but always good to see events for enthusiasts. It doesn't always have to be this event vs. that event. Some work out better for other folks, so it's good to have options.

Mustangweek is not going anywhere and yes there was a very very small percentage of people that got a ticket that’s questionable. But out of 15000-20000 people that’s not bad and u can’t go to any city and act like a fool. Sorry. There was right at 6000 cars parked for the weekend show. So we not hurting as some would like to think
We have always welcomed everyone and promoted a family event. Yes copy cats are around and yes people have a choice to go where they like but for me I have 18 years of my life in the show and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. Thanks to these that come and support us and yes we will be having a word with the city on a few issues. So until next year thanks and see y’all there

I don't know. I did snag a bit more information though.
Cool.. Reason I asked is that group which they named the event Mustang Jam has being saying they was going to do the event for years had dates planned and at last minute they would cancel it. Is SVTP going to be in a joint venture..
