Rumor of the Moment | All-New "Mustang Week" at Daytona Beach, FL | July 15th-20th 2019

SVTP was privy to a little insider information about a new Ford-Centric event preparing to break cover next year. It will be titled Mustangs At Daytona, and is set to take place July 15th to 20th, 2019. If those dates sound familiar it's likely because Mustang Week at Myrtle Beach used to be held around that week before moving the event to September in 2017.

Some feel the move of Mustang Week to later in the year has been detrimental to the event, while many others are eternally grateful for the reduced temperatures and hotel prices the tourist off-season brings. The organizers of Mustangs at Daytona seem to be hoping to capture a sizable portion of the former group. Considering some of the unpleasant encounters with the MBPD that have made their way in video form to YouTube, there may be a crowd of Mustang owners that have been turned off to the Myrtle Beach area. While I consider most of these complaints of police action to be baseless, there are certainly a few that are somewhat questionable. We've heard from more than one Mustang enthusiast that they won't be returning to MB.

However, this is not the first time someone has tried to launch an event competitive to Mustang Week. Back in 2007 a group put together an event called Super Stang Fest, also held in Daytona. At one point they even tried to advertise it as The Official Mustang Week, so we all knew what they were aiming for. For whatever reason, that event only survived a couple years and for the most part has been forgotten. It'll be interesting to see if this crew can make FL in July a more appealing destination.

The organizers of Mustangs at Daytona appear to still be in the planning stages of the event, but they are currently soliciting sponsors. We have received word from sponsors of Mustang Week at Myrtle Beach that they have been approached with sponsorship proposals from the M@D team, but not much else. We currently don't have any information about the event beyond a date and location. One thing is for certain; July 2019 will be here before you know it, and an event of this magnitude needs a lot of press over a long period of time to be successful. The soon events are announced the better chance these guys have of drawing a crowd.

Since I don't have any more information about this event, I'll just leave you all with a pic of the Kohr Motorsports SCUDO Mustang Racecar:

There's no worse time of year to hold an event anywhere in FL than during the months of June-Sept due to the excessive rain and never-ending threat of a pending tropical storm system.

You got that right. I live an hour away and wouldn't go up there in July, hot as balls that time of year and rains every day at 4 PM.

If the real MW ends up going away, I won’t be going to another location. Myrtle beach is a long enough drive for me and we love it down there. I have never had an issue with the police down there, probably because I behave normally. I would not be going to Daytona in July. Time for SVTP week!

Certainly not MW, but you guys have FFF Knott's show that is amazing as well. When I lived in Vegas, we made a weekend trip out of this each year. Weather is always beautiful that time of year.

I go every year to FFF. I always show up a few days early and enjoy walking around the parking lot of the hotel checking out the cars (like the meets at MW) Sitting in the parking lot detailing the cars, enjoying a beer. I just wish it was a multiple day event.

Yeah, Justin, the Fabulous Fords Forever show at Knott's Berry Farm is always a great one. Too bad it's only for one day. Like you said, it does, though, make for a nice weekend visit. How can you not have a great time in CA (vacationing!).

This year they are actually moving the event, to the Anaheim Angels stadium. I think part of the enjoyment was having a hotel that a good majority of people stayed at. Because there wasn't a scheduled meeting time or place we all were just naturally at the same place to hang out a few days before the show.

I was one that was targeted at MW this yr. I was literally cruising thru Murrels Inlet at dusk, at 30 mph in 4th gear, going as quiet as possible, minding my own business when a trooper comes flying up behind me and stops me for my window tint. I pleaded my case respectfully, stating my car passes my home states inspection. The officer told me, doesn't matter as it did not meet SC law. In stead of giving a written warning, he gives me a ticket. I said thank you and was on my way. Now I have the option of flying down to fight a ticket or pay the fine. SC is 880 miles away so driving down again is out of the question.

Meanwhile, 1/2-1 mile away (Beaver Bar) there are cars doing burnouts in the road with people lining the streets. Yet I was targeted for driving a Mustang.

MW definitely left a sour taste in my mouth this yr. I have not made up my mind yet, but bringing my car down for future MW's might be out of the question. I'd still attend without my car.

Daytona is out of the question. Not going to travel for 2 days to attend a few day long car event and make the trip home. I wish them luck.

sounds to me svt is looking to cut ties and prop up another event that would better suit them in some fashion . that said , I know of a shady backroom deal that went on this year at MW that I cant comment on but it was inevitable that the tree would start to splinter but Daytona in July ??? No thank you, Ill just keep staying in sunset and driving down to myrtle for the events and to watch idiots get carted off to jail
