Hey guys! So I wanted to share the progress I have made on the Cobra over the past few weeks. This has been the most exciting and the most difficult part so far with my car. It took a lot of different parts and a lot of time to get the car ready but it is finally done and I couldn't be more thrilled.

My car used to make 605rwhp 570RWT on 2.8" Pulley 2.3L TVS and 93 Octane

Parts to be Installed:
FIC1000cc Injectors
Metco 4LB Lower
Metco 3.2 Alternator Pulley
Metco Tensioner Support Brace
3.0" TVS Pulley
1400RWHP Lethal Return Fuel System
Maximum Motorsports Race IRS Suspension Kit
Ford Racing Dif Cover
Mac 1 5/8" Longtube Headers
Lethal O/R X Pipe
Kurgan Motorsports Tune for E85 and 93

The Build Series:

Fuel System: The First step was to install the Lethal 1400rwhp Fuel System and the FIC1000CC Injectors on the car. This system features the dual walboro 465 LPH pumps, aeromotive regulator, fragola lines and fittings, division x rails, division x fuel filter, division x fuel hat, and more. I decided to go with the Fuel Injector Clinic 1000cc injectors instead of the typical ID1000 or ID1050X. Fuel Injector clinic provides plug and play tuning data for tuners and they are a bit cheaper than the ID1050X injectors. I told the guys at fuel injector clinic my plans to make 700-800rwhp on E85 and they confirmed that this injector will be more than capable of that with some extra room for future plans. Fuel Injector Clinic also includes the actual injector flow data for your specific injectors with every injector set so that you have peace of mind the injectors are ready to be used without issues. The injectors drive very smooth and Bob Kurgan had no issues getting these to support the power.

The Lethal Fuel System is a very good kit. The hat is very high quality and it is compiled of high quality parts and pre-cut lines to make the fuel system a cake to install. The wiring was very easy since the lethal kit includes a dual pump relay harness that simply requires a direct connection to the battery and a key on source which can be found by splicing and cutting the FPDM power signal for key on power.

Note: The division X rails are NOT designed to fit the TVS and stock rails can be converted to be used with this system with some fittings that Lethal sells. I decided to modify the rails and the blower inlet to make them fit. The rail required some minor shaving on the drive side to clear the bypass which is a very easy modification. I also had to shave the bottom right corner of the TVS GT500 elbow in order to clear the rail. After that was done the rails fit fine. These rails are a direct fit for most whipple, eaton, and kenne bell applications.

The regulator was set a 45 psi base pressure as requested by Bob Kurgan and the fuel system supported the 700rwhp with ease.

Exhaust:
So I decided to go with the Mac 1 5/8" Ceramic longtube headers. This was a last minute add to the build. Thanks to Lethal for getting me a great deal on the headers. I decided to go with the headers because I felt like the stock manifolds would have held the car back from achieving 700rwhp. I also have always been a big fan of the way longtube headers sound on a 4V Cobra. I wanted to swing for a 1 3/4" or 1 7/8" header but I chose the Mac longtubes for three main reasons: cost, fitment to car(ease of install, ground clearance, ability to drop trans ), and compatibility with my existing 2.5" exhaust. The headers sound great and the car picked up some power on pump gas so I can't complain.

More Boost:
I decided to go with the Metco 4LB Lower kit in order to run more boost without the risk of belt slip. I installed the Metco 4LB Lower along with a tensioner support plate and a metco 3.2 Alternator pulley. These are some great upgrades for both eaton and bigger blower cars.

Note: I did have some issues getting the belt to stay on after install. The idler plate had to be shimmed in order to be in line with other pulleys. It is possible I may have installed it incorrectly but it is important to note that these cars are old and different idlers, alternators, supercharger pulleys, and tensioners can create variance in belt alignment. Rick at Metco was very patient and very helpful with helping me get the belt issues fixed up and to find the right belt for my setup. I also run 4 90mm metco idlers instead of the stock ones which I highly recommend every cobra owner upgrade to for obvious reasons.

Suspension:
So I decided to go with the Maximum Motorsports Race IRS grip package. I also installed a ford racing dif cover at the same time since my stock dif cover was leaking and the ford racing cover which is sold my maximum motorsports is a great upgrade. The MM kit is a very extensive kit which includes everything to beef up the IRS to battle wheel hop and help the IRS grip. So far the kit feels fantastic on the street especially with the newly added horsepower. I highly recommend this kit. It includes all the necessary tools and parts to make this work. Definitely devote some time to getting this kit installed. It takes patience and time.

93 Octane Tuning:
Bob Kurgan did great with the 93 Octane tuning. We remote tuned the car at Mastiff Performance in Central Florida. The car saw 20 psi of peak post with the 3.0 upper and 4lb lower. It make 640rwhp 605rwt. A big gain over the previous setup. The headers and pulley setup are a contributing factor to the torque gain and horsepower gain.

E85 Tuning and making over 700RWHP!
The moment I had been waiting for! 709RWHP 695RWT on a hot run. The car is so impressive and I could not be more pleased. Bob did a fantastic job and everything with the build came together to produce a beast.

We have to give a huge thanks to the companies that made this possible:

Nice! We made about the same power. 702/690. Vmp TVS 2.3 is so proven.

It’s the torque that makes these cars silly on the street. Power EVERYWHERE!

Sick!!! I’m doin a 2.9 whipple on E85. I just ordered the injectors and hope to have the car on the dyno soon. Going to run a 3.25” pulley on the whipple.

What was the 93 octane gain from the pulley swap and headers? (605 vs 640?) How much more boost? How much do you think you gained from the headers? My stock motor auto Mach just made 508/436 on E85 with 11.6psi and only 13.75* of timing. Ran out of room with the 60lb injectors and pushing the limit of the stock motor. If I do a shortblock I was not considering headers as I think the gain would be minimal so curious what you think your setup gained.

Years ago when I added headers I gained a whopping 8 rwhp. If I were to do it all over again, I wouldn't do headers.

I'm now spinning my tvs and running e85 so that might help.

That's what I figured. I did headers on my GT years ago and it didn't make anymore power than other cars with stock shorties and boost. Figured the same is true here. Thanks!

I wouldn't do headers unless you have a lift and do the install yourself. I installed mine on the lift and they actually were the easiest headers I've ever installed on a vehicle.

Lower boost, better sound, and better ground clearance (mid lengths).

The sound of running headers is definitely a head turner. Mod motors have a distinctive sound. It sounds nasty at wot. That's also running a Bassani catback, not stingers.

Long Tubes, with a Mac chambered mid pipe with 3" Magnaflows and my car sounds like it wants to tear your head off violently.

Yup. I have a 3" o/r x pipe. People are amazed how tame mine is until I open it up. I've had friends text me asking if I was out cruising. They can hear me from nearly a mile away.

I have the coin and a lift so I will most likely do it.
