Thanks for the reply. I just took an pic of how close my 3" kooks x pipe is to the floor.
And I don't think the Stifflers will clear them. I might have to go with the more expensive Shraders mount to avoid exhaust work. less then 2"View attachment 1500888

Yeah that may be close. The stifflers uses I believe 1” thick tubing so it may clear. I should have the car up on a lift on Friday so I will get back with a definite answer if it is

I called a DS shop I normally deal with (proven force in Maple grove) and they won't touch it. Said if it's aluminum it needs to be re-sleeved/whole new tube. I called AN in White bear and was quoted 583$ for the 4602-MGTM.
So probably go that route.

Yeah the trans runs from 300$ and up depending. I have a buddy that runs a tow company and gets free vehicles to scrap all the time. Only problem with that is not to many 2x4's in this state, seems like a lot more 3.5l too.

I have been looking into the compatibility of the 3.5 6R80 and really cant find much about the bell housing. I know the transmissions have totally different part numbers but I haven't seen one to tell if case is different or not.

EDIT: the bell housing bolt pattern is different for the ecoboost

Also, I sent a picture of what I needed done to my DS to Minnesota Driveline and they stated that they cannot get the slip joints for the aluminum DS otherwise they would have no problem modifying mine. However, they did quote me ~$400 for a custom .083 3.5" steel DS that would not start to have issues until sustained speeds north of 7K RPM. I will likely do this as I felt absolutely no benefit from my aluminum DS.

Hey can you guys that have this swap already done just start flooding this thread with videos of the car ripping!!!!!

I'm still not excited about not being able to bang gears anymore and videos reassure a guy.

Thanks!

I’ll be sure to take some more videos but until I can post some vids I would like to reassure you that you will love it. It’s insanely fast and after less than a month I have learned the trans enough that in manual mode I don’t even need to see what gear I’m in. I just know by this point. I did my first really good pull last week from 2nd to the end of 5th gear and boy was it insane

Do you have a write up on your swap? What gear selector did you go with and how are you using manual mode?

I have another thread on here I posted all of my stuff on. A little farther down than this one. I’m not sure how to link so it. I used my stock 4R70 shifter and used the select shift button from Power by the Hour. I went fairly in depth in this stuff on my thread if you wanna check it out

I have missed enough gears to last me a life time. I guess my biggest gripe is the inconsistency in my shifts, when racing.

Looks like the OP of this thread paulstang347 went with a B&M 81001.
I wonder if I could get the B&M stealth pro ratchet 81052. it's front cable and 4 speed capable just like the 81001.

I would like the Hurst pistol grip quarter stick in black. and slap a Hurst emblem on the trunk next to the ford oval.

So far I have the trans all buttoned up with a new filter and pan seal. Decided to just go ahead and replaced the rear seal while its out since it looked a bit damp.

Have the stock 99-00 gear selector and cable and just ordered the Power By The Hour cooler adapters and linkage components. I'm in about $620 so far.

Still need to sell my TKO 600 and get the controller and order up the DS when the trans is in and I can get a measurement. I think I can find a F250-350 cooler or similar with a fan for under $100 as I have been looking.

A friend of mine had a 14 GT CS and placed a stall converter in it at around 5k miles so he gave me his stock converter. I wonder if the mustang stall is different from the F150???

Mike and Paul,

What are you guys doing for lock up? Push button momentary switch?

I am building a ratcheting arm that will sit in my forward cup holder space. It will have 2 detent balls that will give me that clunk when the leaver is pressed forward or backward and will be fitted with up and down shift momentary switches. It will also be sprung to rest in the neutral space. This will be used as my manual shifter.

Lockup is all electronic. The controler will lock it up for you. You can go in and adjust when you want it to lock up using a labtop.

No i do not. Have 2 kids and like 4 diffrent projects going on. I always tell myself i will drive it more this summer. Going to the track friday so will drive it then lol.

I am the same way and cant seem to find the ability to leave well enough alone. A slave to my ambition and just cant seem to buy enough time. With the kids, wife, house, and one rental property there little left on the table.

It would be really cool if you caught some video of your track day. I know that takes time to upload and crap too but it would be cool!!!

What was your best time on your old setup? Are you going to address the converter issue anytime soon or just drive the car?

Only did 8th mile with old setup so i cant compare. Im torn i want to do a converter but that would take funds away from my notchback build. On the other hand i feel i can get into the 9s with a converter. Decisions decisions

Well.... if all it needs is just a converter.. do it and be done with it. You’ll have a complete reliable haul ass car. Do you think that factory converter would be ok on TVS setup?
