If he was making the reselling comments AFTER it showed up I would see your point but not before. Rethinking your build is not a sign of guilt. How much insurance was on it? Enough to cover damage cost? That might be a reasonable resolution. If I was in possession of the blower I would just be looking for compensation for damages. Its a polished blower. None of those marks hurt function just form. Sand it all down and polish and they will be minimal. Not perfect but better. Just saying.

Does Kenne Bell ship their blowers with a little wrap and some peanuts? If not, why didn't seller ship in original kenne bell packaging? I know my whipple came in the foam formed top and bottom that could be dropped off a 10 story building with no damage.

Your pack job was horrible, really is on you to make it right. That was a HEAVY multi-thousand dollar part, you should have had 5 - 8 layers of bubble wrap and had that thing packed so tight it couldn't move. How they come new in box is a clue to what it takes to ship them safely.

As an aside, I would not hold out hope for collecting on the FedEx "insurance." I had a wheel destroyed in transit that was packed in a cordura bag inside of a peanut filled box. Honestly it was impossible to think how it could have been damaged but it was. I over insured it by 2x and UPS still told me to pound sand. Shipper ended up making me whole.

Again you are assuming it was damaged to the extent his pictures show before it arrived. Yet he has no pictures of how the blower was sitting in the box. If I open a box and there is a metal plate sitting on top of the blower that is what I am taking a picture of. He won't even take a simple none zoomed in picture without the film on it.

Hmmmm.......looking closely at the marks on the blower casing any junior CSI tech off of any of the various television versions of CSI can see that the marks are only matched by the tooling marks inflicted by a Dasco Pro brand 1-3/4" X 7-1/2" masonry chisel.

Coincidentally these are sold at the Home Depot in Roswell, NM. Interesting.

Perhaps a check on the Home Depot closed circuit video surveillance footage for two weeks before the incident will yield a clue as to the identity of the person that administered the blower beatdown? Anyone who bought that chisel is a definite suspect. If he's wearing a FedEx uniform or driving a mustang we'll almost surely know which one is our culprit!

Good luck with resolving. Looking forward to the TV Movie of this drama when it comes out.

All the best.

In the damage pictures, we see LC and other barbed fittings fittings that have clear signs of deterioration from a humid storage environment, but in post #18 the seller shows a picture of the full top of the blower including the inlet with a very nice fitting coming out of the right side of the mammoth inlet, I believe the PCV hose or oil separator would attach to that fitting, it is not deteriorated from a humid environment, it looks brand new?

I have had much experience with FedEx, damage a couple of times at my receiver end, but not often. When a claim is filed (by the sender) FedEx wants complete pictures of the box, the packing, and the item that is damaged. If they determine that the packing is substandard for the item shipped, they will decline the claim. A challenge can be made and sometimes they will back off and pay, and sometimes they will not, but either way the $.99 per $100 additional insurance has to be bought before the shipment is shipped. If the additional insurance is not purchased at $.99 per $100, you are probably out of luck..........In this case it would have been approx. $42 for full coverage.

I have price compared many times between UPS and FedEx, same box, same day, same To: and From: and FedEx most always comes in with the better price, by 10%-20% and sometimes 25%+ better. <<And I have done this comparison "many" times shipping larger items like wheels and tires.

UPS and FedEx are the same $.99 cost per $100 of additional/added shipping insurance.

I said from the get go and not picking sides, but somehow these photos were taken when the seller first got the kit and his s/n the date on the paper was photoshopped in somehow. Or this can go the buyers fault way is he received it and dropped it while unpacking. Or something inside due to poor packing caused this damage. In the end someone needs to just fess up and take of this. GL buyer/seller

I dont understand what the picture of the blower in the box proves, he reported it to Fedex and was told to refuse (I understand his hesitation sending the blower and money still on the other side. I personally would over package the shit out of a 3k blower. To me something loose rubbed against the casing. Not much a person can do with the installed fittings. However I would also consider this blower as new with some wear on the exterior. The damage is damage and if I had that kind of money tied up in a newish/used blower I wouldn't be impressed with the damage on the case.

I am sure there is something Kenny Bell can do to help (new case) and everyone is happy. This is easily resolvable if both parties work together to make this right. Im leaning towards the sellers piss poor packaging and loose bags filled with objects that could easily cause this slight damage. But if Red3V finds a fair resolution and Manny doesnt accept then Id really start leaning towards cold feet.

All it comes down to is standing behind what you sold and were paid for. Make it right. Live and learn. I have not been on this site with alot of these changes but id look at seller/buyer feedback.

That blower is jacked. No way anything in that box did damage. OP is wrong, yet I have zero proof. His reputation now rides on this thread.
Yea that damage seems like it need some force to create, liked dropped or thrown on pavement. Fell off a shelve etc. Sucks I would be sooo upset if I got a product I just paid $4k for and its garbage pretty much. I dont think that is repairable IMO

If stuff is loose and allowed to rub with multiple boxes stacked on and tumbling on conveyors, could easily do the damage in pics, that blower is heavy.

I've had an expensive part I shipped damaged by FedEx in the past. My customer sent the part to be modified. I performed the modifications required and repackaged the item with the same packing material the customer sent the item to me. I wasn't happy with the original packaging materials, but reused them due to the fact I didn't have the time to go to Staples to purchase the correct packing materials and a larger box and make the Next Day shipping deadline my customer required. Unfortunately this bit me in the arse because the electronics of the item arrived DOA at the customers location. The item was insured by me at the time of shipping for $5000 which was the total replacement cost of the item. FedEx denied the claim I submitted due to the poor packaging of the item. I unfortunately eat the replacement costs even though I reused my customers original packing materials when he sent me the item. It became my responsibility to make sure it was properly packaged before handing it to FedEx to return it to my customer.

Now with all of that said FedEx sent an employee to my business to teach me about how a package is handled in their system and to package an item against damage as it travels through the system.

First and foremost any item shipped by either FedEx or UPS should be packaged to withstand a fall of 3 feet. The box maximum weight rating which is printed on the box should be at least double the weight of the item it contains and it was suggested that 3 times would be preferred. So if you have a 60 Lb item to ship, the box should be rated for 180 lbs of weight to carry with a secondary burst rate that is usually 3 to 4 times higher than the weighted rate to place inside of the box. Now you can't find a box with these high ratings at any local office supply store. I've received a KB blower at my home and KB's own box doesn't meet these ratings, but the way they support the abuse of shipping is by using a liquid foam to fill the gaps and to keep the items from touching each other in the box. The foam is as much of the part of the outside protection the box provides. I was informed during this FedEx training that once any item enters the system that it isn't handled by people as much as you think. The item is handle mostly by machine which can't read FRAGILE HANDLE WITH CARE or any other warning you affix to the outside of the box. You can ship a 5 lb item in a box rated for 30 lbs with a 180 lb burst rating. Your item can land in a bin and have a 80 lb box land on top of it depending on the next item on the conveyor.........or ten 80 lb items if they are following your item on the conveyor to the same bin.

Unfortunately in the pictures of the box at the receivers you can clearly see that the box didn't have the internal support of uncrushable packing materials. The box is clearly showing signs of the abuse it received as it traveled down conveyors and dropped into a roll around bin to be moved through the system. Everyone of the creases that are not corners or where flaps fold is damage to the internal support of a double layer corrugated cardboard. Each time the box receives a new crease in the cardboard the less support the box has to protect the items inside. Unfortunately the blower wasn't packaged to a standard where any shipping company would pay a damage claim after spending a day with one of FedEx's packaging training employees being taught how to both purchase the correct packing materials for the item shipped and how to package that item using those materials correctly. The box was under rated for the job and the support material inside the box were of a crush-able material which as the item moved through the system allowed them to start moving around inside of the box. If a FedEx claim loss inspector looks at what the receiver has posted as to how this item was packaged they will deny the claim because of substandard packaging by the shipper in my opinion. The shipper needs to understand that he didn't do his due diligence in properly packaging the item for shipment and make it right for the receiver. I learned this the hard way and it cost me $5000 to learn it

In my opinion the seller is in the wrong for not purchasing insurance for the complete selling price of the item. You don't want to buy insurance for the full replacement costs of a new blower, because that isn't what you are selling the item for. FedEx or UPS will deny the claim of a $5000 item if you purchase $5000 of insurance, but are selling it secondhand for $3500 whether it has been used or is still NITB. They'll only cover what you sold it for, so only purchase that much insurance at the time of shipping to cover the losses you as the shipper would lose. It is always the shipper that has to spend the money for the insurance and it is his responsibility to file a claim against the shipping company due to the fact he was the one purchasing the extra insurance at the time of shipping.

Now I don't believe the receiver damaged the SC after unpacking the box as the seller suggests. The box is showing signs that the items were flopping around inside of the box during transit. Unfortunately I see this type of damage to boxes when my customer sends me the items I need to modify. Ever since I had to pay for one out of my own pocket that was damaged on the return trip I always repackage them if I get one that I receive that was poorly packaged when it arrived.

Seller step up to the plate, because right now you are looking like an arse
