There are two operating refineries in New Mexico for 2018. Scroll down and see the analysis in the EIA report.

New Mexico Profile

From that link

"The state's larger Navajo Refinery that is located in Artesia can process both heavy sour and light sweet crude oils."

They forgot about the one in Lovington also.

With refineries in NM and California, its stupid that 93 does not exist at all west of the Mississippi.... all we have is 91, and i feel thankful to have even that.

North Dakota is a shit hole. A very very VERY bad shit hole.

Meth has riddled it. People went up there for money and got addicted to drugs and stayed up there.

There were very and i mean VERY disgusting things happening up there during the big oil boom. I spent 6 months up there and wouldn't go back up there for even half a million a year.
You're absolutely correct sir. From what I saw on that documentary, it wasn't good at all. Lots of drugs up there now as well as the crime that I mentioned earlier.

When I was up there I was worried less about the meth, and more worried about the dudes slipping a roofie in dudes drinks so they could take them back to a man camp to **** them

I had heard that ND got a handle on a lot of that when oil collapsed and took the pressure off pretty much everything. I know my family's business did a tremendous amount of infrastructure business out there.

It was definitely the wild west during the boom. I was selling new pickups to guys here in St Cloud , MN that intended to sleep in them and use the communal showers and hoped they could find housing before it got cold.

They did, but like you said during the boom it was insane. It was a known fact that Williston on a Friday night was roofie heaven.

I was fortunate enough to live about 70 miles away so I never went there unless it was to wal mart and back.

It was just absolutely disgusting.. Fortunately with my schedule it was basically work work work 40 hour shifts, come home for 8 hours and do another 40.

I heard enough stories though to scare the ****ing shit out of me when it came to watching my drink even watching the bartender pour it.

Hell I still remember during the boom cashiers at walmart making $21 an hour. Was insane.

I see Meridian got its final permit to build a refinery in Billings county, ND. I wonder how things are going with the steady increase in drilling rigs.

Funny price per barrel is now at close to an all time high at about $75 a barrel not seen since about 4 years ago, so where is the Republicans at saying that the oil speculators are causing public panic and hardship? *crickets this is what I hate most about the Republicans as they really do allow scum like them to get away with stuff.
You do realize that "all-time high," does not apply to just the last four years, right? And that $75.00 a barrel wasn't even the not-all-time-high of the last four years, right?

This is a great article except nobody processes heavy anymore aside from a couple of small output locations and even they typically run light. The old Hovensa refinery in St. Croix was the largest processor of heavy before it was shuttered in 2012 due to the whole Venezuelan decision to nationalize oil production.

One of my clients in the panhandle tried processing the Canadian stuff, but the sulphur content was just too high and they abandoned the pipeline.

There is talk that the owners of the Hovensa refinery are looking to possibly bring it back up, but if that is the case, they will either convert everything to light crude or start buying Venezuelan heavy.

The stuff from tar sands is more expensive after processing as opposed to light. The article is one of those advertisements disguised as news. Don't put much into it.

Sulfur falls under engineering fiddly bits, if someone can make decent money processing it, they will. Now what price point discount to sweet per barrel that makes sense...

Libs only view the world 4 years at a time unless it is about global warming. Then all of the sudden they can see 1,000 years into the future.

US has more known oil reserves than the rest of the world combined!

Even at current crazy burn rate the world could last another 80+ years on current known oil reserves. My feeling is there is far more oil under us than we could even imagine.
