A comment in the Celebrity Crush thread got me thinking.

My wife and I have never really discussed politics to the extent that I do not know if she is registered as a Democrat or Republican.

We will discuss certain topics that are out in front and headlining at times but not once have I asked her whom she is voting for or how she votes. I would also say that she would be hard to guess what side of the fence she falls on due to her beliefs.

If I had to guess, I do believe most of her family is probably just left of center. Their beliefs seem to involve a lot of personal responsibility, common sense, and freedom of choice which is why I say it is hard to pin down the affiliation.

Anyone else just not care about politics in their relationship?

Never asked my wife either but would assume she is with me or has most of the same beliefs when we talk about certain issues.

What I find hilarious is the MSM and Demorats siding with illegals. Yet parents get separated if they go com-it a crime and go to jail.

If I remember correctly didn’t Clinton and Reno try keeping Gonzalez from his Dad in 99-00?

Mine asked me who to vote for last election...her political views are zero, she simply does not care.

I've tried getting her interested, her response, why should I vote out one cheating backstabbing lying sack of shit for another?

My wife and I are polar opposites when it comes to the political spectrum. We get in some heated debates and she usually storms off when she can’t take it anymore IE when I win a debate.

Some say it’s toxic, but god damn does it makes for some great sex afterwards.

We agree on most things tho she lately has been feeling sorry for those “poor” kids being separated from their parents. Says I have no emphity for them. I just say if they did not sneak in here they would not be separated then.

My wife is from Canada so when we met she was solidly left of center and I was pretty far right. After being together for over 14 years now she is right of center and I'm a little further left of where I was, but probably a bit more right still than her. We see eye to eye on most things.

FlahDah man.
My wife is from Lithuania and has no interest in politics. Now if Facebook has something funny or juicy she bombards me with it.

Thankfully my wife of 35 years is an Army brat. She was born at Fort Bragg NC. So we both back the military and Trump BIGLY. We both grew up in ultra liberal Bergen County NJ in North Jersey and learned to dislike the left while living there. We are both registered Independents that are conservative and we butt heads with all dems and leftists but unfortunately we are surrounded by them...lol.

Well, how are the illegals (criminals) going to vote liberal if we deport them?

Solution: give them an absentee ballot and send them back.

My wife is staunchly on the right.
Would have Trump's babies if given the opportunity.
I have moved to a more independent view, even libertarian if you will (small "L") after being so terribly disappointed with the GOP the past few years. And yes, I agree the Libertarian party (large "L") puts up buffoons as candidates, so when push comes to shove, I line up heavily on the right.
And in fairness, I would have Melania's babies.

And FWIW, we discuss politics a lot these days, and rarely argue about it. I have, however, seen couples get divorced over polarized positions in today's heated political climate.

YMMV, YOLO, NAFAIK, ISWYDT, and Get Off My Lawn.

When my wife and I were dating she was pretty far left. She never really followed politics but her family were slightly left and her friends were hardcore liberals. Her friends weren't surprising considering they were all in college and all studying liberal arts. They pumped her head full of a lot of BS that they were taught by their professors. I never really talked politics much with her but she would make comments or ask questions. I would give my opinion on the topics and ask follow up questions. She was open to learn and have discussions and over time she went right. She isn't as far right as me but pretty close.

The best part was when some of her friends who "followed politics closely" started having conversations when we would go out not knowing I was a conservative. I would start talking with them and asking questions. They either didn't know or were completely misinformed. As soon as I started giving them facts or correcting them they very quickly changed the subject. None of them will talk politics around me any more.

The best part was when one of the "elites" in the group tried calling me out at a party about what I do and where I work (defense). Had the gull to tell me I work for "the devil" and "I need to utilize my skills for something good instead of killing people." What we do is primarily peacetime defense and contributes to no loss of life. I called him out, and told him he is whats wrong with this country by attacking people without having any real knowledge of the topic at hand. I then prodded him bout what he does. He worked in IT logistics for Wal-Mart. I asked him what his thoughts were on Wal-Mart and how they treat employees, outsource everything out of country to places that treat their employees like slaves, and kill local businesses. He conveniently had to go to the bathroom and never came back to finish the discussion. I found him later on still talking politics with someone else. Asked him why he didn't want to finish the discussion and said he forgot.
