A Little Snip-Snip | SVTP Tool-Tech | Lisle Hose Cutters

If you work on vehicles long enough you're going to have occasion to trim a few hoses. Be it a supercharger install or running a vacuum line for a boost gauge it's going to happen sooner or later. And one of the things you're going to struggle with is making a clean cut, especially with a knife or razor blade. That difficulty also increases as hose diameter increases. Luckily, there's a better way.

A few years ago I was installing a Magnuson Supercharger kit on our SVTP Project 2012 Mustang GT, and that thing came with a pile of hose that had to be trimmed to fit. I knew I didn't want the final project to look like a hack job so I ordered a set of Lisle Hose Cutters. Let me tell you, once you use these things you will not go back to using a box cutter.

The handles are a high density glass-filled nylon that are ergonomically sculpted, and the triangular shaped is extremely sharp. Best of all, they are made in the USA. I've used these things more times than I thought I would. A year ago I replaced all the raw water hoses in the engine on a twin-engine boat with a generator. The only issue I ran into was with some of the 2-inch diameter raw-water intake hoses with a steel support wire. With a little technique I was still able to get through the hose and then clip the wire with some snips. Lisle knocked it out of the park with these hose cutters. I'd buy them again without hesitation. Check out the video review:

I bought my set on Amazon a few years ago for around $20, and in that period of time it appears they have changed the handle colors from grey to black. If you're interested in picking up a set of Lisle Hose Cutters you can do so at the link below:
