Hey everyone. I recently purchased a 2011 GT500 SVTPP with the pure intent of going to car shows and race events. I'll drive it to work every once in a while, along with the occasional date night, but its primary purpose is for play!

Has anyone in this group gone to High Plains Raceway or Bandimere with their SVT GT500? I'm wondering what to expect from it and what upgrades I need to do before it will act as expected on the track.

I installed the MGW shifter yesterday and it is shifting perfectly now from 1-2, which it definitely struggled with before. The car goes sideways if I shift it too hard though. It has the 3.73 Limited slip but that doesn't seem to help much. Any ideas for getting it to track better when she breaks loose?

Run a decent tire, stock shityears aren't very good.

I'll be out there with @AustinJ427 and a buddy of mine the last weekend in July. You should sign up for the weekend! Also, do you guys know each other, you guys are damn near neighbors.

NASA July 27th and 28th

I have 285/35ZR20 Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on the back right now. I punched it getting on the highway today and the car broke sideways pretty bad. Nothing a little counter steer didn't fix but it definitely scare my passenger haha.

Do you think I could fit 315's on it or would 305's make a big enough difference? Also, would you recommend the Nitto Drag Radials or the MT Drag Radials?

I don't know anyone else in parker really. My wife and I just moved to Parker from Denver to raise our first kid, out in the burbs :)

I will pull that race up and check it out.

I definitely want to be able to do both. Figured I would buy separate tires for both but choose suspension that is best for road course racing. What tires do yall use for road course racing?

Tons of different options. If you want to drive to the track, Michelin PS2s, Toyo R888Rs, etc.

I run Hoosier R7s or Pirelli slicks, but I trailer to the track.

I'm out in Parker too. I'll keep an eye out for your car. I just picked up a white/blue stripe GT350.

For the NASA event, you'll have to become a member and start in the lower level. It's a lot of fun, you get an instructor who will teach you to find speed in the car you never knew existed.

Shoot me a PM if you need more info, I used to run up at bandimere all the time in my 2012 but I have moved on from drag racing. I don't know a lot about drag radials but given that you are currently running on a 285 A/S, either one is going to be a monumental step up.

I wouldn't run a drag radial out at High Plans though, different tires for different goals, you would be all over the place and burn them up in a session.

Nice! I'd love to see your car. The previous owner of mine did some stuff to it that I am not fond of, but I am in the process of bringing up to par for my taste. :) I'm definitely interested in road course racing and NASA. I'm also interested in getting a racing license so I can do high speed events like the Pikes Peak Attack. I'm going to try to find the PM link on here so we can chat more.

Lol I'll shoot you a PM.

Is your wife driving your car today? I was just on lunch and there was a grey GT500 right behind me, it may have been an iron block car though. I immediately thought it was you lol.

We were out and about yesterday for sure. Had the wife and 6 month old baby in the car, so I was probably driving it quite gently lol. Mine has the glass roof and no top stripe, so she is hard to mistake. :)

I'll keep an eye out! Hopefully the only white/blue stripe GT350 you see around town is my car lol. If I see another one, the stripes are gone and the roof is getting wrapped.

I stuffed my car away for now so it will likely only see miles on the weekends, which is really painful.

That is definitely painful! My daily driver is my diesel truck, but I drive the shelby a couple days a week usually. I messaged the forum admins and they said I need to participate more to be able to send messages. So that is why I'm not able to send or respond yet. Doh!

I finally got her out to Bandimere Speedway.... Needless to say, I ordered a set of drag radials the very next day(today). Holy cow its hard to get traction with a 285 A/S tire :) I have a set of NT05R's coming, hopefully before test and tune next week, we shall see though. I decided I don't have the money to start road racing this year, but I'll be saving up for next year! Drag racing should hold me over for now though.

I'm out of Fort Collins, but have hit Bandimere a couple times this year, but need to get back. Preferably a day that isn't ungodly hot, lol.

I'm on an ET Street SS, it's alright at the track, but replacing my rear struts this weekend. Have a little seesaw effect at the track. Will see if they do better on the next trip.

You can't say you went, and not mention your ET, lol.

Ironically my fastest ET had my worst trap speed. You could definitely tell I am new to this haha.

R/T. .638
60' 2.271
330' 6.027
1/8. 8.997
ET. 13.612
107.68 mph.

My best trap speed was 109mph but my tires spun so bad I had to let up and hit it again a little easier. The air was a bit cooler for that run so maybe had a little more HP to play with.

I'm hoping some better tires will get that 60' time down to about 1.7 or so, and get my ET into the mid to low 12s. I'll have to play with how much rpm I can launch with. On the street tires I had to "launch" very carefully lol.

Obviously have room for improvement on the tree as well... hah. I dont know what "average" is but I'm guessing I should be like .3 or something?

Other than the wheel spin, the car felt very solid and stable. I'm sure I'll break something soon though... lol

I'll try to make it out on the 6th and the 20th this month. Maybe see you there!

First time out is always a blow to the ego, if you had an ET in mind, haha.

Friend has a 335XI M package, the last two years he's gone once each season because he gets super frustrated. Seems to ignore the whole practice aspect. Car should be mid 12's, but can't best a 13.5. Just puts the pedal down and spins. Buddy has a 335i (these two are friends) but he has a lot more experience, so seeing someone making same power but a second faster gets to him in a bad way. Just takes time.

Launching a blower car ups the difficulty factor, add street tires, and you better learn to peddle. On Eagle F1 all seasons, I had to peddle my ass off. The NT05R should be a good tire under 600rwhp. Didn't see any mods listed, so assuming stock.

You'll need to play with pressure, but 17-20psi tends to be the good range.

As for ET, if you can hook, your car is usually a 13.2ish ET up here. Love that 8500DA. Cooling goes a long way if you don't have any upgrades.

I'll hit you up when I plan on going down. Be down to meetup, I'm not overly social, lol.
