if you have any plans to buy ford stock, now would be the time. I will probably buy another 500 shares or so in the next few days

I bought my father 1 Ford stock back in the 90s (had it framed etc). My dad passed away in January, and I'm still unsure how to sign it over to my name. Haha, clueless, I am.

Odd. See more Fusions around here than v6 mustangs and old guys in vettes.

Guess the profit margains aren't worth keeping it. But when gas hits 4 bucks again, doubt everyone will be jumping to CUVs.

Here's the kicker...

Ford announced the death of most of it's car lines. But they didn't say they were exiting the market completely. I'm keen to think they will relaunch an older name, or come out with a new one and fill that small car gap. Otherwise they will start pushing CUV's.

Realistically, CUV's make more sense to the average consumer. In my city, roads are awful, flooding is an issue, and dirt roads still exist in the rural parts. Taking a car down my industrial road at work is a fools errand, and high water makes driving a car sketchy at best. I drive a truck, and the lady will drive a CUV or 4Runner once we get rid of her tiny car.

Point is, I think the usefulness of a CUV/SUV is catching up now that they aren't gas hogs. And Ford sees that.

I am surprised the Fusion is being dropped. I guess this news kills the possibility of a new Fiesta ST for north america

This was squashed some time ago. The head of the Fiesta team basically said it was 100% a no-go at the reveal.

Is Lincoln effected?

Around here even the niche vehicles are plentiful. Besides the average Fiesta, Focus, Fusion and Taurus, all the "performance" models are around although I have yet to see a Fusion Sport on the road.

I have 0 problem with Ford getting rid of the Fiesta and Taurus.

Focus' and Fusions have always sold well. I'm not sure what the outcome of this will be, but as long as gas prices stay below $4, I don't see it as a huge problem.

Guess the cop car market is now in Dodge hands with the charger? In the mean time anyways.

Only seen one Sheriff agency use a Chevy whatever for their squad cars. The rest have been Taurus, old Crown vics and Chargers.

Any LEOs like the Taurus? I know from talking with PBSO years ago they were trying to hold onto the vics until they died.

I know many LE agencies are still holding on to Crown Vics and many are using Tahoes, which with an interceptor package, outhandle the Panthers.

the article said the push to hybrids and electric will continue and at least hybrid I’d the way mustangs and CUVs will go

Sell your Ford stock
wrong thing to do. For the first time in a long time most financials are saying now is a good tome to buy as it will be going up. Ford has always been horribly undervalued and analysts are optimistic for once.

FYI, Ford beat Q1 analyst expections by $0.02 per share at $0.43 per share with $1.7 billion in profit with $42 billion in revenue.

Those are great numbers.

Of that revenue, 78.5% came from light truck sales.

I'm not surprised.

I sell more Edges and Escapes than any of the F cars and Taurus combined.

But when we get Fusions in they do sell and I see them everywhere.

I think Ford should made a sedan but in between the size of the Fusion and Taurus and name it something else.

They need to get the hell out of Europe IMO. It is a tremendous resource suck for the company. Europe is a mature market, with little growth potential. Ford doesn't play in the luxury (high margin) segment, and are left to battle it out with the numerous other "economy" makers. A 1.3% margin is a joke, and not going to cut it.
