MY2018 GT350R is arriving soon and I’m conisdinf keeping the CF wheels for track use only.

Is there a list of wheels that would fit the R? I’m quite nervous about damage to the CF wheels in routine daily use on our horrible roads in Toronto.

Oh boy! Two questions in one!

The question about wheels that fit the R, "yes" and the wheel suppliers will be all over this post looking to supply your needs.

The second question is more subtle. The OEM wheel studs on the "R" are a LOT LONGER than the wheel studs on the regular GT350. The fronts are over 3" long and the rear just a bit shorter. That's because the OEM CF rims are very thick in the middle where they bolt to the hubs.

I am only aware of one brand of aftermarket aluminum rims that are thick enough in the middle that they will go over the OEM "R" studs and allow the use of the factory lug nuts. All the other ones that I've encountered are thinner at the wheel center (like regular aluminum rims) and these will require you to use open-ended lug nuts leaving a length of uncovered wheel stud exposed.

So, when the wheel suppliers all descend on your post, keep the lug nut thing in mind. I don't think the company that makes the thick center rims advertises on this site, so I won't name them. Do a search on this and a few more GT350 sites and you'll find them.

Thank you for your reply and info. I did recently read about the wheel studs.

I’m finding it confusing reviewing old posts.

There is talk about some wheels that fit like the 6GR but there are vague mentions of rubbing and very little info on weight. I know the weight will go up but it would be nice to not double the rim weight.

I’d be okay keeping the stock look too. I’m also reading conflicting numbers on the cost of replacement oem CF wheels.

More questions. Which wheel has the the thicker centre allowing the factory lugs?

Vibe Motorsports make the replica R wheel that will take the stock lug nuts. I am waiting on a set to be shipped myself

As if the R's lug nuts don't stick out enough. Now people are resorting to aftermarket wheels that require either leaving the ends of the studs exposed or using super long lug nuts that end up looking like sausage links sticking out of the hub? That compromise itself is enough to ruin the look of some otherwise nice looking wheels. That said, Signature Wheels supposedly can design a wheel any way you need it. So they can probably design one for you that could use the stock lug nuts (if you want to use them) and not leave excess stuff protrusion.

I like the look of these. And the weight is not crazy compared to the cf. they are forged and more expensive. Are there other options?

There are not many other real options for the Shelby's at the moment, most have to go with a Forged wheels to get more inner barrel clearance.
The 7 Spoke Forged wheels will give you about 15-18mm inner barrel clearance compare to the other brand that are *cast rotary forged* which will only give you about 3-5mm max.
Which means if a small rock falls into the part you will get your brakes and inner barrel damaged, from what i have seen.
Also on a GT350R most other forged companies will required open end lug nuts to be used.

Another thing to note is the ViBE wheels actually have more front caliper inner barrel clearance than the stock CF wheels. I have their 19x11 square track setup on my non-R. My setup is the only one that won't use the OEM lugs but I like the look of my open lugs. Feels more racey :-D

Those actually look nice. I think that would actually look good on my GT500, if it would fit.
The P51 Wheels would work on a GT500. you can do a 19x10+35 & 19x11+50 or 20x10+35 & 20x11+50, same set up as the new 5.0.
or 19x10 All aorund or 20x10 all around.

The rear is a very slight aggressive but does not rub.

Hmm... Now you have my mind wandering! I'd want some 19s. Where's your order page?
