my first experience on a 2 stroke was my buddies 1988 CR125 and I swear even to this day its the fastest thing I've ever ridden lol

I can still remember it like it was yesterday and the warm and fuzzy feeling I got from that was priceless and been hooked ever since!

Regret selling my old 2005 CR250. Had the bike since new and sold it way too cheap but the market was not where it is today. I'll have another!

I havent check the market lately but here's that's too expensive. However, with the lack of clean bikes, it may bring that much.

The two stroke dirtbike market isnt dead. The paid media and big Jap companies just want to push the 4 stroke bs on us.

KTM just released fuel injection on select two stroke models. That's a huge plus.

The enduro line of ktm and husky 2 strokes are fuel injected. I’ve seen Moto guys swap out the enduro tank for a smaller mx gas tank on them, swap out the suspension for the badass cone valve mx stuff, delete the kickstand and have a super Modern 2 stroke mx weapon. The Austrian bikes already come with hydraulic clutches and Brembo brakes, steel lines etc.

Ive seen people just leave bikes stock and just put in more seat time. For the average person, that's better than changing all that stuff. An off the show room floor yz250 or yz125 does great.

Yes they don’t have kickstands, they do have a proper size tank and they have the best stock suspension on any bike.

I'm thinking about getting one and selling my 200, although I love the 200 with my Rekluse.

How did you like the 250F? I have been wanting to get a 4 stroke bike for awhile and was just going to go 450, but have been giving the 250 some consideration. I plan on keeping my CR 125R, it just too much fun to part with.

I’ve always wanted to pick up a CR500 since my dad basically gave his 1989 model away.

I have a 02 KTM 200 that’s been in pieces for the last year. Started working on it and got distracted by the cars and ran out of time. Need to get that pumpkin back together....

Nicky Hayden was a badass for sure. When he was hit the amount of people genuinely upset says a lot about the guy.
His accident confirmed my fear of road biking for training.

I dig the yz250f. I’ve had a 04’, 09’ and now a 2017. The newest generation is so good. A lot of torque for a 250f and it pulls faaaaar into the rpm range.

I liked the 250f but I'm 150lbs wet and even with the suspension done I never had a good 'feel' for it. It was very reliable, and treated me well for the couple years I had it but I can really feel the 40lb weight difference on my KTM. I felt comfortable on it my first weekend ride. The 250f had plenty of power for me though, it def wasn't lacking in that department.

I haven't ridden a WR250 but I'd like to. I love having a kickstand and electric start since I mainly do single track woods riding on the big bike.

Yea, keep that 125. I regret selling mine after I re-did it.

Nick was a great person man.. He was very giving to people. I've know him since I was 13 and blessed to be in his circle for so many years, I was just as much as a fan as a friend. Rog and all the other OWB boys still cycle to this day, but I know what you're saying. It's crazy out there.

Thanks on the 250F.. I like it a lot but like I said I didn't feel amazing on it for some reason. Maybe I should ride a 17 and see if it suits me a bit better. Mine was an 09'. The blue wheels on the new ones are so dope. haha

Edit- I will say I never got off the 250F without a smile on my face, it was a powerhouse for me. I just wanted to try the KTM and fell in love with the suspension on it. Rides like a cadillac.

Like I said my last yz250f was an 09’ and I really enjoyed. Didn’t do anything great but didn’t do anything terrible either. Very well balanced. The 2017 I ride now really can’t even be compared. Motor wise it makes he 2009 feel like a complete turd everywhere. Chassis is confidence inspiring on the high speed stuff. You ride a little more of an edge through the corners but it comes with the ability to cut down in the corners better, I happily take the trade off. The gearbox is a huge improvement as well. I’m always confident it will get in the next gear even under load. At 187lb there are jumps out of corners that I have to shift on the face of the jump to have the drive to clear... really bad time for a false neutral lol

250f is a good choice if you are smaller/lighter like 190lbs and under. Over that and I think a 450f would be better. It's better to have gobs of power versus not having enough power.

All this talk really makes me want to pick up another 250. I dont even ride my banshee so i shouldnt even think about it.

This my mine with the lame +6 swing arm: https://i.imgur.com/s6WeeSth.jpg

And here she is naked with the stock length which is how it sits right now.

I dont ride well but it doesnt bother me :). Bike makes 109/57 on pump gas and a very conservative tune/set up. No peaky lame drag port bs power delivery either.

Id like to pick up a used ktm 250/300 in the future. Id rather a yz250 but being 5' 7" with short legs, i cant even touch the ground easy even with it lowered. So kicking it over is a chore. Due to the local market and cost, if i do get another 250, it will most likely be a KX, CR or YZ. To me, they are all the same after around 2001 models for what i do.

Like others said, that is too much for a 1998. That's the price for the last gen cr250s (2003-2008). I bought a crf450 brand new in 2012. It was/is an absolute beast and does everything well, but I missed the 2-stroke power delivery and lighter weight. I picked up a 2003 cr250 and rebuilt it from the ground up. Since then, the crf450 has just sat in the garage.

I'm thinking about getting one and selling my 200, although I love the 200 with my Rekluse.

I have a Rekluse in my 2016 KX450f right now for single track. Having that Rekluse with the power of a 450 is a blast! And i know a KX isn't ideal for single track, but I like being able to hit the MX track also (although I haven't used the Rekluse while riding mx yet). Surprisingly, the KX is very manageable in tight wooded areas with it being a norrow bike, plus the combination of the Rekluse, softening up the suspension and the bike being fuel injected.
