Maybe stupid question. Why are Ram trucks so cheap?

Their are four 2017 Ram Expresses according to this dealer literally a few

What kind of towing/hauling, and what kind of mileage do you ya'll put on them?

I won't be towing, and scarce little hauling. Just driving all over eastern NC down dirt roads to a half dozen ranges I frequent.
No towing, about 50k a year. The fords just didn’t have the break downs. Mind you, this was about 10 years ago. All ford fleet now except the big trucks.

The problem with the compareable GM products is the cylinder deactivation and fuel management. They straight up murder lifters by 100k. If you turn it off you'll do yourself a flavor. So I wouldn't consider the new V8 GM products necessarily "Reliable" out of the box.

The 5.0 coyote Fords? Absolutely. Bullet proof right out of the box. Rams too.

I suppose long as you don’t mind changing exhaust manifolds.

I've never owned a dodge hemi truck, but after seeing my cousins fall apart and my buddies drop a valve into the 5.7, not that interested in them. I know that is anecdotal evidence, but its enough to keep me away.

FWIW: I don't particularly care for GM trucks either. My wife's Tahoe has had one issue after another, mostly electrical; replaced upstream O2 sensors twice in 77K miles, blower motor, TB once, passenger side window motor, back passenger window switch, all speakers, tshooting AC climate control issues, interior trim is shit (particularly the dash)...I will be getting her an ecoboost expedition soon, done with this ****ing thing.

Wifes SS has been great, now my GMC on the other hand. I would roll it off a cliff. Vibrating rearend, gas gauge works 1/2 the time, radio is hit and miss. Looking at the F150s,but hate the price.

I had an 07.5 2500 Cummins 6.7 that I pulled a 32' toy hauler around with, and when I got rid of it in 2012 at 75k miles, it had never been to the dealer. I started looking at trucks again last October after putting up with SUV's the last 5 years, and found the same thing you did, the Fords are made from gold or something, and no one was willing to move much off of MSRP. I ended up getting a 2017 Ram 1500 Laramie that stickered for $52k for just under $39k with the 3.92 LSD, heated/cooled seats, leather, heated steering wheel, Nav, Alpine stereo (which is so worth the money), moonroof, tow package, etc. and it's been great so far. I love the power, the 8 speed auto, and the ride is the best out of the big 3 IMO as well.

Can't really go wrong these days, so let the money do the talking.

I have had 4 f-boats and a Z06, so I am willing to accept a few deficiencies given the nature of those cars, but not one of these full size SUVs/trucks that you can barely touch new for 50 grand (gotta have leather, **** the base model rubbermaid interior).

Good point. At the price they command, they ought to be damn good.

I love the F150 and really was dead set on another one this fall but seeing the new Ram unveiled has me waiting for that to hit the market so I can test drive first. in my opinion the F150 seems over priced comparably.

Chrysler: brilliant engineering, second to none. Great build quality, as good as it gets. All crippled by cheap materials. And what kills me is it wasn't always like that. From their reorganization in the early eighties to 2002, Chrysler products were industry leaders. Then in 2002 they made a decision to save money by cutting materials quality. Once again, paint starts falling off before it can rust, dashboards crack, cam-timing sensors fail one after the other until you buy an aftermarket item. The engines, for the most part are rock solid, but everything made of plastic, especially, is junk.

You must be living in some alternate universe from me. FCA/Dodge/Chrysler, whatever you want to call them, has built trash since at least the late 1970s, and probably since before that. Second to none engineering? I mean, I cant even......

I don't think "trash" is an appropriate description!!o_O They may not measure up to your standards but we've put several hundred thousand miles on Chrysler and Dodge cars plus I'm on my second used RAM 1500 now!!:)

I'm a FORD man through and through but FORD trucks were not up to the task for many years so I got a 10 year old RAM 1500 and it was a perfect work truck.....no foo-foo interior stuff but a hard working hard pulling TRUCK!!

I currently have a 2008 RAM 1500 and it replaced the 2004 with 186K miles on it....so far this one is perfect for what I use it for and I DO NOT CONSIDER IT TRASH.....sir!!

We had a lotta snow yesterday so I drove the wife to work and stopped by the Dodge dealership after dropping her off around 10:30AM. No one was in the dealership but the lights and heat were on and the door was open so I walked in. They had a Ram Express 4x4 crew cab with Hemi in the showroom. They double sticker them with extra crap, but had a $13k discount on a $45k MSRP truck. I may have to go back and buy it if anyone shows up to work there tomorrow.

Nice score man!
I have the Alpine stereo in my truck as well. It is a killer system.

In my experience’ s owning all 3 manufacturer pick-up the Ford is just the better of them. My Fords never had a failure other than let’s say starter motor or alternator. The others particularly the Dodges had serious break downs such as steering knuckle and brake line failure all at less that 70k on the clock.
The thing with the Fords is they are heavey made componants made from higher quality steels which does cost Ford more per unit

i know its not the same, but i bought a 04 2500 qcsb diesel new for about 20,000 less than the f250 same everything -- all of my buddies with 6.0 fords gave me a hard time, after all of the 6.0 issues most have switched to dodge- side note i have always said i would never own a dodge without a cummins lol. and my only time the truck has left me stranded was for a fuel pump 185??? on the clock now, i haven't had any issues with the dash cracking or any electrical issues, brakes, but i may be the lucky one in a million

Chrylser QA/QC could be better.
My dads Trackhawk right front door isn't perfectly set. Looks a tad off when you look at it. So much for the QC they were doing in November/December.

Got 6k miles left on my wifes R/T Durango warranty. Might buy the extended warranty(online)

I had leased a 2014 Ram 1500 QC Express. Was a great truck. They lease extremely well too. I had a $199/month deal on mine with nothing down. I have switched over to FCA products recently and have had no such issues with any of my vehicles over the years. My wife has always had/preferred FCA. She started with an 08 Grand Cherokee. No issues on any of ours. 2008/2011/2017 Grand Cherokees, 15 Cherokee, 14 Ram 1500 and my 17 Charger. I have no issues recommending them to anyone, but again everyone has preferences. I loved my Mustangs but I wanted 4 doors and unfortunately Ford doesn't have a good performance 4 door.
