Of course he tried to influence the committee for Bama to get in. Can't fault the guy for that. It was a really tough decision between OSU and Bama. Plenty of pros and cons for each team.

I think there were actually three teams (Bama, OSU, and USC).

The only issue I have is that it is stated by the committee that for a non-champ of a conference to get in, they must be unequivocally better than a conference champ. Hocutt said last week that the difference between #5 (Bama) and #8 (OSU) was "razor thin" (his words, not mine). Since that statement, OSU went and beat an undefeated, top 4 team and won their conference while Bama ate cookie dough on the couch. If it was razor thin last week, and with what OSU did over the weekend, how did Bama become unequivocally better? Sounds like collusion and very fishy to me.

We lost to Iowa by a stunning margin, there is no excuse for that. If you handed me our resume at the beginning of the year and said "Team A will have this resume to end the season, are they playoff-worthy?" I would say no. However, if you also handed me Bama's resume and said "Team B will have this resume to end the season, are they playoff-worthy?" I'd say hell no, not even close.

To each his own. We got in last year when we shouldn't have, but should have got in in 2015 and didn't. Mind boggling really, but this is the Bama Invitational. I want Mayfield to torch Bama then tell them to suck it. LOL

Who usually does the pickem for the bowl games?

I forget who organized it last year. Note, I'd do it but I'm moving this month across the country and will be in and out of communication. Would love to make the picks and see what happens. Maybe Sinister remembers?

I hate to say it but it's all about the money. Bama vs Clemson will bring the most viewers/money as its going to be a 1-1 rematch. I'm a Bama fan but I do believe that Ohio St. deserved a spot. What is the point of a conference game if it gets you no where. Just my thoughts

I agree with this 100%. Except I’m not a Bama or Buckeye’s fan.

And as a Buckeye fan I'm not holding anything against the kids from Bama. They are great and deserved consideration. I feel like our guys got cheated though. I hate Saban.

I agree with this as well.

Oh I definitely see your point. Getting beat soundly by OU then totally shitting the bed against Iowa cost them. Funny that if they played a MAC team instead of OU and finished 12-1 there isn't even a discussion, they're in.

The problem with beating Wisconsin is that despite their ranking no one gave Wisconsin any credit. They played no one OOC, the West sucked as usual, and the 2 teams they played out of the East were Maryland and us. The only really good team they played was OSU and they lost. I'm sure that ultimately factored into the decision. Another 59-0 blowout may have gotten OSU in.

I forget who organized it last year. Note, I'd do it but I'm moving this month across the country and will be in and out of communication. Would love to make the picks and see what happens. Maybe Sinister remembers?

There's already a thread up for it.

Winning your conference and ending with a great record and you still don't get the invite doesn't feel good, does it OSU?

A four team playoff is almost as lame as no playoff at all. Alabama gets it thanks to popularity and nothing else. This supposed powerhouse of epic proportions played Mercer second to last week. Why not play a team made of jerry's kids for christ sake? That alone would have made me give the nod to OSU.

I have had this same argument with my Bama friends, and they are too stupid to get it.

I can’t see how Johnny Manzeil number 2 AKA Baker Mayfield is still a heisman candidate. What a joke that guy has no class if he wins it, it will just prove how much of a joke the award is.
