2015+ prototype cams came in last week. Testing to commence soon....
Piston to Valve checked out with more clearance than stock at full advance.

Figure 10 hours of labor, plus you'll need to retune. Chain tensioners and OPG's can usually be done at cost of parts since that part of motor is opened up anyways.

Anyone put these cams in a boosted coyote yet??
Yes
2 centrifical cars picked up 80 & 90HP without adding extra boost running the same fuel/fueling and ignition timing as they did with the stock GT cams.
We have a Whipple 2.9L in progress with these cams and a Hellion setup as well. No numbers on those 2 yet, but they are both idling/driving like stock (as expected).

That's good to know, I'm thinking about doing both the intake and exhaust cams with my vortech.

People ask me this nearly weekly, so I guess it's easier to state this here for those that do a search:

I have been designing camshaft profiles for 15 years now, and based on the data I have + my extensive experience exhaust cams ARE NOT NECESSARY on these vehicles (NA, Supercharged, Nitrous, or Turbo). Therefore I DID NOT design the exhaust cams that have been 'paired' with the intake cams.

Due to the high volume of requests from L&M customer's to spend (waste) more $$$ on both intake AND exhaust cams, Michael at L&M came up with the 'paired' exhaust cams to go along with the Intake cams we designed together.

I DID NOT HAVE ANY INPUT IN THESE EXHAUST CAMS.
I DO NOT RUN THESE EXHAUST CAMS IN MY CAR.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM FOR USE WITH THE INTAKE CAMS IF YOU WISH TO KEEP ALL THE LOW/MIDRANGE POWER OF THE INTAKE ONLY CAMS.
I DID NOT TEST THE EXHAUST CAMS AND HAVE NO PLANS ON BUYING THEM FOR TESTING IN OUR R&D VEHICLE.

More information:
From my data/experience any exhaust cam that gains power at high RPM loses roughly double that gain in the low/midrange.

So there IS power to be gained from larger exhaust cams, but you have to consider the compromise of low/midrange in exchange for this power gained at high RPM.

The Intake Only cams have NO compromise here, they only gain.

Would Triangle Speed in Orange Texas be able to tune my car to take advantages of the cam swap on a turbo Coyote?

Absolutely, Daniel at TSS is a high quality Coyote tuner and can handle these cams without any issues.

Shaun,
Do you think the Intake only idea could be taken further with a more aggressive cam? For example, if you were going the extra mile and having your heads worked, and went with stronger valve springs, could you push this further with a custom grind intake only cam?

Shaun, have you had any customers run the L&M LM1 cams yet? I'm interested to see what they gain over the intake only setup as well as the trade-offs.

Shaun, sorry to bother you with the questions, but seeing your 130+ mph trap with being N/A, you obviously know your stuff and how to tune the cams. Which would you recommend for a drag setup? L&M intake/BCJ, L&M intake/exhaust, Comp Stage 3's, or a custom grind from MMR? E85 just came readily available. I'd like to be in the upper 120's for trap and a 10.50 ET. Currently am running a ported CJ and run an 11.37 @ 120.5 through an MT82 with a 1.57 60'. More seat time and a little weight reduction should get me a 10.99 pass on 93 octane now.

If I believed the Comp Stage 3's were 'the' cams to get I would not have designed the L&M Intake cams.

If I believed these applications would benefit greatly from an exhaust cam swap I would not have designed ONLY Intake cams.

Can you make more Peak power with different cams? Yes you can, but you'd better have a setup to take full advantage of the narrow RPM band (which is not the case with a 6R80 NA car).

Thanks for the info, you tuned my car originally with headers and a CAI. Are you able to get the full potential of the intake cams on a CJ setup with E85 through email?
