I made the same post. I think it's too early. Nobody replied. I'd like to see results as well. Hopefully we see some numbers.

I'm on the fence on selling my car so I won't be the guinea pig. Was also ordering parts for an auto swap but lost interest in the car. Took it out today and was just bored and didn't enjoy it.

6R80 swap and it will feel fun again lol. I get the bored blues all the time too but this will be my last go around with modding a car. Way too expensive hobby for me to start over but man the newer stuff is great.[/QUOTE]

Iv had my cobra for 14 years going on 15. I just want something more comfortable now. Little more modern. I am pricing out used c7 stingrays. I want a yellow with black rims and accents. Do headers, full exhaust, cold air and a tune. Thats it. I don't want to mod cars anymore. My cobra gave me headaches.

The 6R80 in a cobra will make the car stupid fast. 23lbs with my 2.9 whipple on race gas will haul ass.

gotcha. I was talking to my tuner at mustang magic and hes like, we just buy sell buy sell these blowers for minimal gains at the end. we start with a 2.2L blower and end up with a 3.4 lol. If you really look at the gains, time spent and money, its small increments. we will see what this new 2.9 will do and he has a crusher!! It should put down some nice numbers even on a stock motor

I plan on staying 2.3 on my current car for ever. 600 is plenty of power for me to get stupid with.

I planned to do it. Actually sold my gen 2 2.9 and then the wife talked me out of it. Refunded the money.

I've been tinkering with this car since I bought it.. I need to just stop and try to enjoy it a little bit.

sometimes I wish I had the will power to have left the car with a 2.80 pulley, steeda cold air intake, borla stinger catback, tune. Thats all I had and it made 460rwhp 485 rwtq. Easy to drive and handle on the road, no messing with fuel system, and you can beat the shit out of that setup all day and be fine.

Like jimmy vaccaro told me, the god father of mustangs back in 03, he said Alex, don't go down the slippery slope!!

we will see what happens this spring. If I still feel the same way, Im selling it and getting a c7 vette.

Now I don't feel so bad about my Posi ported Eaton car. But anyone with a mint 2.2 KB, I'm interested. If there is one...

If you pick up a 2.2 kb, I prefer the ones that had the oil catch can. The first run kbs used to spew oil from the snout. so they added a catch can. believe it or not, the ones with the catch cans, make more power. when I bought a used 2.2, I made sure I found one with the catch can.

Im sure you are familiar with snake bite that mustang magic built, the black cobra that did the fly by in front of the shop on youtube. That car was only set at 15lbs of boost in that film. That car had the catch can kb. I was standing behind the camera man that day and I drove the car before we filmed it. It wasnt made to be such a huge hit but the original video had over 10 million views.

anyway, something happened to the blower. some kind of seal in the snout went. The owner of mustang magic, when he sent it in, told jim bell himself, DO NOT change anything on that blower. Leave the catch can as is, dont mess with it and do not upgrade to the newer snout. Interesting right? lol

I follow this guy on Instagram. @svt_ajames_z06. He was having a lot of issues with spark cutout in the higher rpms. He ended up only making 513/704 in the first couple of runs. Then it was worked out, to which he was being hush hush about the numbers, but it was shutting off on him constantly and not holding a steady idle. A lot of guys believe it is due to a shitty MAF setup and also the tuner. Last post he had was in regards to selling his cobra because he's tired of the issues. We shall see...

I ended up personally going straight for the kill and getting the gen 2 3.4 crusher, ARP 2000 head studs and a few other goodies. Straight e85 setup. 23 psi minimum. The average guy just getting a cobra now is probably best suited getting a 2.3 vmp and calling it a day. They will all get us to 700. After that its time to go bigger blower (bigger than 2.3) and/or build the motor. If you've already got a 2.3 or 2.9 just go straight for turbo.

Still interested in seeing the results of the gen 3 2.9 though. I'll post up whatever this guy ends up making...

I don't know if that is enough evidence to make a blanket statement thought. I have some personal data on this and been running the 2.2kb last 2 years and did not notice a difference. I had gen 1 w/ catch can when I first put it on - 601whp 595 tq on 93 19psi, then oil seals failed and seized up, had it rebuilt w/ gen 2 snout upgrade that KB strongly recommended as I didn't know about the snout change till they told me, made 604whp same boost but different dyno.
Also the snakbite car was over 600whp but had built motor. No 2.2 has made near that on stock motor at 15psi. Most at 17psi make 570-590.

I know snakebite had a built motor. I drove the car twice and was in it before we shot that video. I was standing behind the camera man when we filmed it. My friend Richie shot the video. I hung out at mustang magic every Saturday and saw the car being built. I'm also aware what these cars make with the 2.2. I did 6 blower swaps.

Just going by what I saw in the shop when the cobra was hot andpeople went crazy swapping to a kb. And joe the owner specifically told Jim bell not to upgrade the snout. No idea bro he lived in the shop and did hundreds of 03 cobras. Your car did make good numbers !
