Hello Gang,

I am here to tell you I am a changed man! LOL. I had the opportunity to rent a Lamborghini Huracan last week while I was traveling for business in Phoenix. For years I wondered why anyone would pay such huge sums of money for these cars but after driving one for a few days I completely understand! My review of the car is a perfect 10. And to think that this is the "budget" lambo makes me wonder how good there other stuff really is.

On to the the story...

I landed in Phoenix last sunday for business. Had a rental car through enterprise and chose the "sports" car category. Normally I end up in a Mustang, Camaro or Challenger V6. All great rentals by the way. As I walked up to the enterprise counter I saw an area that read "enterprise exotic" So I went up to that counter and asked them what cars they had. A very nice employee by the name of Tyler showed me several Corvette Stingrays, a Land Rover, Porsche Panamera and then pointed out the "bull"

I was literally in a state of shock. Having been all over the country this year and renting from enterprise nearly every time I have never seen the "exotic" rentals. Knowing the "bull" would be outrageous to rent I asked anyways...How much??? 1200 a day!!!! OUCH! LOL. I then asked if they did military discounts (i'm a disabled USMC vet) and he said he could work some magic for me. He ended up giving me a very nice red stingray for no additional charge! So I was pretty happy. I was thinking best case scenario V6 stang/Camaro/challenger and I was leaving in a V8 vette. I was very happy to say the least.

As I was leaving I noticed he had 9 different vettes. All different colors, hardtop/convert etc. He said the vette is the most popular rental in the exotic fleet due to price (normally 150 a day). He also said that he would call me later if he could cut a sweet deal on the lambo for just one day. Knowing odds were slim on that I said thank you and off I went.

After getting checked into my hotel for the day and relaxing for a bit, Tyler called and told me he could get me the lambo for 1 day at 450 for the day!!!! Yes, you heard that right. He came down nearly 800 bucks per day! I didn't even let him finish his sentence before I said HELL YES. He told me to drop the vette off anytime after noon tomorrow and he will have the bull ready! I was super pumped. I'm in Phoenix, no rain ANYWHERE in the forecast and I get to rent the bull for a day. Having owned some incredibly fast cars during my life, I always wondered what it would be like to drive a fast exotic. What makes them SOOO much more money than my equally as fast blown mustang etc etc. I'm sure many of us have felt this way.

When I initially picked it up there was around 30-40 people getting into there normal everyday rentals who had just arrived at the airport...lol. The chevy aveo folks at 19 dollars a day. haha. Let me tell you, they were all watching me get checked into the lambo. It was an immediate celebrity moment. People are wondering who the hell you are etc etc. Who rents a lambo? haha. Even when I was leaving the lady at the gate asked me if I was famous. I literally cannot believe the attention and smiles this car attracts. Incredible...more on that later.

After getting out of the airport I was finally able to open her up some. I had it set in sport mode most of the time with traction control off. Sometimes I would use Corsa mode. The first time I brought down the hammer I think I almost fainted...the sound alone made me feel like heaven was under my right foot. Seriously, this car sounded so dam good it was amazing. Performance was INCREDIBLE. This car doesn't spin tires at all! My car at home is a TVS Coyote with around 700RWHP and I kept thinking this stock lambo would easily pull on it. No joke. Off the line I would be left for dead. I have never driven a car that was this fast off the line (see videos). The brakes, the handling, the interior all excellent! I will say that I expected slightly more of the interior...some cheap plastic here and there and NO DRINK holders...lol.

The transmission and tuning on this car are two places that deserve lots of attention and praise. That dam transmission would make ANY of us die hard manual guys never want a manual again. Yes, it's that good. The tuning especially in sport/Corsa mode made the engine hold gears, burble from the exhaust and shift HARD. It was breathtaking. After driving it for just a few hours I realized this car is absolutely on another level. Having been spoiled with several fast cars over the years I never imagined being impressed with a car the way this car impressed me.

I drove it all day. Everywhere I went, people taking pictures, videos. If I stopped ANYWHERE I would come out to people standing around it. Asking me who I am, what do I do. I know some of you may not like that much attention and that may turn some of us off from the car but I gotta admit I enjoyed it...lol.

After I finished work the next day I had to drop it off...I was depressed at the thought...haha. Now the vette seemed like a chevy aveo! lol. When I dropped it off I was given a black stingray this time. As soon as I got moving I immediately thought this car aint shit...haha. Spoiled from the lambo I now ruined the vette the rest of the trip for me!

But then, a miracle of epic proportions happened! I was relaxing in my hotel room that night and Tyler called me....he had overbooked the vette's this weekend and asked if I could bring the vette back Friday and take the Lambo for NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE the remainder of my trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would compare this moment to seeing Ed McMahon in the mid 80's at my door holding a big publishers clearing house check. That's about how I felt!

Anyways, I drove this dam car all over Arizona...through the curvy mountains of cave creek, through Scottsdale and my personal favorite into tempe right past ASU! I had 4 different very very very attractive college girls, stop me while I was driving! Asking me who I am, what do I do, nice car etc etc. lol. I cannot even imagine how much trouble a single man would get into having this car in an area like that. It literally requires ZERO effort.

ok, sorry for the long rant....pics and video below.

You are a lucky guy for sure with that experience. I will never drive those cars so I have to live my driving life vicariously through things like this, ha. I did drive that Hertz Mustang GT-H. That was the fastest rental car I've been in. Needless to say it was a fun ride but has nothing on the Lambo.

I had no clue those big rental car companies started doing exotics like that. How many miles did the Lamborghini have on it? If I had to guess, I bet they don't rent that one out too often.

EDIT: Just saw the video you posted, looks like the mileage was at about 18,100 perhaps. More than I would have guessed.

See, if I was seen in that car, anyone watching would say, "Oh, he must be the retired guy working part time at the dealership parking cars in the morning." lol

Although my wife routinely lies to me and tells me how good I look in the Terminator. Must be because my hair and beard match the paint. See avatar.

It had 10000 miles. More than I expected too but broken in for me to abuse as well. Lol

Great line. The Huracan is the most beautiful lambo since the Countach to me. I want one so bad, as I'm sure many do.
A buddy of mine has a Ferrari 458 which I have driven. These cars are like nothing experienced before. But after driving the Ferrari I got back into my 93 Cobra and didn't feel down. Although the Ferrari(and no doubt the Lamborghini) are on another level, I still like the American V8 bad assery our cars have. Ideal is to own both.
Great post man.

That is awesome!! Really lucked out with a great sales rep who gets the bigger picture in CS/exp! Btw go do a driving exp...ripping a lambo/ferrari etc on a track. Was the greatest driving exp of my life. Drove a 458 & a mclaren mp4-12c. Wicked amounts of fun getting to open them up in the right enviornment.

That is awesome. I always rent the most basic car I need, and ask for upgrades at the counter. Always works out well for me. They pay a lot to have those luxury and exotics there, so (if it's not a holiday weekend or something) they'd rather rent them at a discount rate than have them sit.

Not quite as exciting, this weekend I went to Havasu, and always rent a car at Orange County airport Hertz. I had a sweet Altima booked, but they upgraded me to a Supercharged V8 Range Rover Sport for a total of 30 a day. Only 10/day more than the Altima. I could have gotten a Corvette for the same price but needed a back seat.

Are you famous?

What do you do?

LOL. Looks like fun OP. I travel 2x per month for work and can very much relate to the rental car bits within the story.
