I wasn't as disappointed as I thought I was gonna be. During the run-up to the first episode I remember the article saying 'Cis-het Lantern-Jawed white men have been rightfully kicked off the bridge' and had a bad feeling it was gonna be like what Marvel tried to do in their new comics that wound up backfiring on them. I was actually kind of impressed, even though the Discovery hasn't made it's appearance yet. I'm curious where it's gonna go when Captain Lorca (Jason Isaacs/Lucius Malfoy) shows up.

I saw an interview with one of the cast and it sounded like a social engineering project. I was not interested in giving it a shot after that.

not at my post...
Honestly it wasn't bad fellas, great action, the effects are spectacular for a TV show, like cinema quality. Think CBS is making a mistake with the streaming part though, after the premier its going to be exclusive to CBS access|app. International customers can view via Netflix, but not US customers which is real shitty of CBS. There are of course other less legal means to get it.

EDIT: I think they threw out comments like social engineering etc.. to placate the SJW crowd. I was a little worried it was going to suck, but it did not, they at least have not mucked up the premier.

Should have been 2 hours to develop the characters better. Good cinematography.
Will probably wait till season is over and pay for subscription and binge watch

Was not impressed. Doesn't even feel like Star Trek. At least the new movies had the decency to explain what we're seeing there is a parallel universe.

I like the Orville, it's a goofy tribute to the OG Star Trek series.

Orville feels like he's trying to recreate TNG on a low budget. It wasn't the flat out comedy I pictured it to be. I caught part of the sex change episode, feels too SJW for my tastes.

Not going to start with Discovery. Definitely not paying for CBS app and my pirating days are over.

This is why I was skeptical at first too, but I didn't really see any of that in the first 2 episodes. It may still go that way, I'm not sure.

I really like the Orville too.

The second episode was better than the first. You can sign up for a free 30-day preview of the CBS All Access app. I have it on the Roku. I was gonna cancel the subscription, but I might hang on to it just to see how this first season goes. The only "problem" I have with it is that they have a woman named Michael.

I'd give my left nut for another season of Babylon 5 with modern effects.
