What part of KC are you in? If I can help, let me know.

Lees Summit. I dont think you can do much to help at the moment. If a clean, unmolested new edge comes across one of your lots - give me a shout. Im looking to stay under the $7K ceiling for a local car.

I will randomly trade for them. I'll keep you in mind.

Cobra,

Ive got a deal on a car from a Honda dealership. One of the issues is that car has one single PATS key. What am I looking at to make a second one? $150-200?

Yes, pretty close to that.

Lol we must be neighbors. I live on the blue springs/lees summit line

Ive only been here about 3 months. However, you must not drive your GT500 around much, because I dont remember seeing it. Im S of Colbern and N. or Scruggs between 291 and Todd George. You must be around Colbern and 7?

Yeah I am just north of Colburn on Adams Dairy.

Car was in storage for most of the year due to building a new house which was finished end of july got it out and 2 weeks later a KCMO dump truck side swiped me. So it went back into storage while I wait on the city to get me my check to fix it. Got to put a whole 180 miles on it this year. There is always next year.

My thoughts are any dealer that doesn't want to take the time, isn't worth the time...

Agreed. A little over 2 months ago I was looking at a '15 Honda CR-V Touring AWD 2.5 hrs away. The dealer sent me a ton of pictures and even made a youtube video of the outside/inside and pointed out any blemish that may concern me. I was sold and made the trip out to buy it.

Well guys, I put a deposit down on this one - actually an interesting story and I will make a thread on it later - but waiting on paperwork to get signed and it should be mine:

Yeah, it looks like a good car. Carfax shows an accident in 2008 but the car looks and drives straight (I used to live in the area and had a friend of mine go check it out). There is some kind of noticeable squeek from the rear end - so that has possibly chased off potential other buyers and the only other thing is a spot of rust on the passenger rear quarter panel lip (the car started life as a PA car).

The good thing is the engine purrs and the driveline is smooth. Carfax shows service records at 5K intervals at the Ford dealer for the life of the car.

So the twist to the story is that I had planned on shipping this car home, but just got a call from work and they would like me in DC next week! I think this is a sign I should fly out there and drive the car home. I've done this DC to KC trip numerous times before but am wary of doing it in a 16 year old car, with 95K miles on it, that I am buying off a used car lot, sight unseen.

What do you'all think? Am I going to get raped in the back of a hillybilly pickup on the WV/KY border? Or should I save the $700 in shipping and make the most of the situation?

I'd drive it back. Especially if you're already gonna be out there. Give it a quick tune up. Maybe a belt and hoses and fluids if you can before you take off so it doesn't strand you over something stupid. Spend the money on preventative maintenance it may need anyway. Instead of wasting on shipping.

How long do the clutches last ? Might be my only worry.

If you have any issues and take the unlikely path of coming south to SC for a bit, I'm happy to look it over with you.

As an aside, I was in KC, MO during April and LOVED the Power and Light District

So yeah, I've decided pretty much to drive it home. Im pretty sure its mechanically sound and I will be in town for a week so I can give the car a thorough once over.

Luckily, I have access to my Buddy's house and we can put it on stands to take a quick look at it and make sure nothing obvious is a miss. I know this Honda Dealer, and they are a legitimate dealership as far as dealerships go. Their tech would not have completed the Virginia state safety inspection if something was obviously out of sorts with the car.

My concern is running into something like a fuel pump, starter, or crank sensor en route. Those kinds of problems that are'nt readily visible during a look at the car but shake out during a road trip.

Anyway, my gut says the car is solid and i will try to give a good look over prior to leaving.

Thanks. If Im in SC, something is very wrong.

I have no problem looking the car over, I just dont have access to my workspace and tools if I find something seriously wrong. Although I will have my buddy's house available for a once over and road worthiness inspection.

Was about to suggest driving it home. Best way to test it out!

I drove my cobra back to Atlanta from Kentucky, and by the time I got home, I knew everything she needed.

When you put it on your insurance, add comprehensive and collision coverage and the highest level of road side they offer.

That way if you get stuck in the middle of no where you aren't on the hook for a $300 tow bill on top of whatever else it.
