I'd love one, but brake replacement and tire replacement is nuts. Oh and the interior design is HORRID. Gauges/dash is my biggest issue with the 5th gen.

and i am sure i could go to the gt forum and find the same. so what your point.
My point is that I seriously considered an SS not long ago. On paper, and in on-line reviews, it glows. Performance for the $$$ is hard to beat. However, any "long" term ownership is far from such a nice experience. It is a shame, because Chevy really had a chance to make something truly special with the camaro (still referring to the SS). But, the truth is that the car has been riddled with serious flaws since it's release. With self-destructing differentials, defective torque converters, serious electrical gremlins plaguing the infotainment and the instrument cluster, and the list goes on and on and on...
If I did spent ~$45K on a camaro (as your avatar implies you did), I might have an emotional attachment to defending a purchase which turned out not to be so wise, too. But, I didn't ;)
The truth is, when we're talking ~45K there are much nicer cars (certified pre-owned probably being best choice) that will get you a lot more car and quality for the money.

^^^^^If you're referring to 6th gen LT1 cars. They have had the normal DI issues with intake valves getting caked up, AFM/lifter failures, random misfires, interior rattles, squeaks. Much better off with a 5th gen, my buddy unloaded his 6th gen not too long ago. The performance is very tempting and dealers are discounting the hell out of them, but I wouldn't bite, not till GM sorts some of the gremlins.

That LS3 is still my one of favorite motors. Very stout mill, cam, full bolt-ons, gear swap to 3.90 or higher and that car will bruise some egos. The gearing really is the only thing hurting 5th gens, it's too lazy/soft.

I would consider doing the dod, vvt, afm delete too. Regular lifters, oil pump, cam gear. Those DOD lifters can be problematic. You free up a good 30 horses just by deleting that shit too. While your at it, put a good blower cam in.

Ive thought about doing a cam and headers from nelson performance in SA or using England Green in Houston.

Thats why I picked the 5th and not the 6th, sure looks are great and the power is.. But I heard about a LOT of issues for 6th

No issues ( so far) on my 12 with 60k

I think it was a Motor Trend video that I saw but the hosts were talking about how the new SS 1LE was equally as good in every aspect as the previous Z/28 which makes the Z pretty much useless and makes sense why it's depreciating.

It would be interesting to see a 5th gen Z28 and 6th Gen 1LE considering their capability and what they cost new.

I remember the Z28 in the $75k range?

I just priced out a pretty basic 2SS 1Le with upgraded 6 piston brakes for $49K online

Uh... no.

The new ss 1LE is not equally as good as the Z28. Not too far off but Z28 still has an edge.

"Z28 useless" comment is just plain silliness.

At the track, a Camaro/Corvette tuning company blew their LT1 (oil starvation). That's the second one they have grenaded. We talked to the owner and he said he doesn't like the LT engines. The LS was much better.

Those weren't my words but here a video where the claim they both ran a 1:37 and some change. There was another video where they go into detail about how the 1le is the better buy compared to the overpriced z28. Perhaps saying useless was a stretch but why get one when there's something better. Which makes it useless in my opinion.

While on the subject of the SS 1LE... A local dealer has two new '17s on the lot... Both marked down 8k

Mark downs aside, I just wouldn't be interested in a Z/28 (or even the SS 1LE) with the new ZL1 1LE on the horizon. I'd gladly spend the extra cash (if I had it) on the ZL1 1LE. I'd love to see a track comparo between the Z/28, 6th gen SS 1LE and '18 ZL1 1LE. ;)
