As a former child, I wouldn't put fireworks inside a car, but definitely in the tail pipe.

I'm skeptical of the entire thing.

Very unfortunate some scumbags had to do something like that (if that's what really happened), but i sure as hell am not giving money to someone who didn't even have insurance on a vehicle like that. If they didn't care about it enough to insure it, neither do I.

I certainly don't reward incompetence. And dont use a kids disability either to lour people to donate.

Damm, quality of SVTP sure has gone down over the years huh?

I'm sure it's not at all expensive having a disabled kid in a wheelchair. Guys really packing it in running some sort of martial arts training club in Springfield Missouri...

Get a ****ing heart. I'm as conservative and skeptical as the next guy but comeon. Little dude in a wheelchair with a straight raw deal gets his prize possession torched by some asshole for kicks and yourre talking about insurance and garage storage.

Dad has a 1969 Mach 1... Guaranteed the insurance would not cover this much repair and the totaled payout would either on his.. just like it says in the gofundme.

God forbid other car enthusiasts come together to make a freaking kid in a wheelchair realize not everyone is a pile of shit.
No, and this will be moved away. We aren't a donation site.

Old friends of ours named Sean and Nancy had their new Corolla torched the same way on the night of the 4th of July. The car was a total loss.

If you restore a car like that, you understand its value both emotionally and financially. You would take the proper measures to insure it should you really care about it. And you wouldn't leave it outside regardless of your garage sale, bake sale, lemonade stand, or Tupperware party.

It's not a fox body and it's not a new car with electronics and security with tempered glass. It's a 50 year old car that's extremely easy to break in to, steal, set on fire, and destroy. It's also very obviously worth some money. It's a magnet.

Unless they have a 60's Ferrari in the garage, I have no sympathy. No way you couldn't have kept it in the garage or properly insure the car. If you don't have anywhere to keep it, put it behind or besides the house. Not in the farthest parking spot away from the house.

Stupid people kill me.

Tell someone you didn't properly insure nor store your classic and people grab the pitchforks. Toss a handicapped kid into the mix and how it all changes. All it really takes is some sort of child or other individual with a story that can guilt people.

Can't tell you how disgusted I am with the responses in this thread. Seeing who the majority of them come from though I guess it's not that much of a surprise. Too bad that "super troll" thread is going to amount to nothing as usual.

The car was insured. As with all classic cars, it would need a lot of extra insurance to cover this amount of damage. I'm sure you've all been in the position of having the expense of a handicapped child and still had all that insurance... And what dumbasses...they left a classic car out for one night in a decent neighborhood... Who WOULDN'T expect it to get torched?

His parents didn't put up the GoFundMe...a relative did. And God forbid the community comes together to show a little kid society isn't totally full of assholes (this thread sure says different though).

Worst case senario the insurance covers the damage and they end up the throwing 10k extra at making it a true show car. What a horrible result. Or maybe a new wheelchair for a kid who will never drive or live a full life...

Edit:. Seriously, how do you look at what you posted and feel good?

For me, at the end of the day I agree fully with the thread title here. This is Arson and the person(s) responsible are shit bags. I hope they are caught and punished to the full extent..

but man,... just further proof you've got to protect your investments at all times.

You're kidding us right?

It doesn't matter who owns the car. If it's valuable to you then it should be insured. It's not my job to watch over your crap or replace it if something happens to it. All they needed to do was call up grundy and have a deemed value insurance policy on the car. It would be stupid cheap since they would have the usage of the vehicle at near zero.

I can't stand these go fund me sob stories for people that aren't prepared for life. And nobody should be bringing in how much they make or what it cost to have a child in a wheel chair. They could afford the property so it's their job to insure it. I know first hand that having a disabled child is stupid expensive but that doesn't give people the right to not be held accountable for their lack of sense.

Yes, I feel bad for the family and the kid but I'm not going to give my hard earned money to bail them out for a car.

Spoken like someone that has never owned and insured a classic car. It's called deemed value. You set it to what it's worth and that's it. On a classic that isn't driven it's way cheaper than reg insurance on a driven car. Their is no excuse here. It's click bait at it's best.

Putting your emotions aside, have you looked at the pictures that just so happen to include their house, neighborhood, other vehicles, etc..,? Look at them and tell me if you pick up on anything.

The guy above mentioned Grundy. Hell, I see commercials for it every time I turn on Velocity. The owner has been on various car shows explaining how coverage for an agreed amount works even if you drive the car every day.

Out of curiosity, how much did you donate because the way you run your mouth against many here I'd expect at least a grand.

Just to point out a few things a family friend owns a 2011 F458 Ferrari and guess what he also had a garage sale, but he didn't park the 458 outside nope he had his 6 fold up tables against the wall and what he and his wife wanted to sell in the house by the door into the garage and throughout the floor of the garage. Oh and he also had his 2005 Gold Wing trike in there also. And he wouldn't even think of putting either vehicle out there overnight.

So just goes to show you these people didn't think things through as unless they had a regular dining room table they could of had them stacked up and against a wall with two bricks at the foot of them to prevent them from sliding back.

You really need to quit with the pressuring people to feel guilty to donate horseshit. Enough already.

I have worked with quite a few handicapped kids in my life, not a single one of them have ever had a mach 1 or anything remotely close to as valuable as that as a toy to have fun with. It's not a necessity item, it's a toy. This situation is the parents to resolve, not a bunch of random strangers you are pressuring to donate money and have it replaced for him. It sucks the situation happened, but maybe they should not of left the vehicle outside overnight if it was THAT precious and they didn't have it fully covered for a certain $ amount.

I am sick and tired of people starting gofundme pages to collect money for luxury items. Only in America...

Move on dude....

Note: They've also already made more than double what they wanted on that gofundme page, so why are you continuing to talk about how heartless everyone is for not giving them money?

I moved this to closed once due to the "go fund me" crap. OP whines why I did it. I explained, I was correct the first time. I should have left it closed. It was said a few posts back, my hard earned money, not some feel sorry scam IMO.
