I have a 1997 Ford Mustang SVT cobra for sale that needs engine work. This will be an ideal start for anyone looking for a project car.
THE BAD: It currently has what I think is a "rod knock" sound coming from the motor. The car still runs and the sound is not noticed until above 2500 rims. I have had the car to my mechanic and they have found significant metal debris in the oil, so the thinking is a bad rod bearing.
The car has 95k miles and it has been my daily driver for 6 years (daily driver is a general term as I only work 3 days a week). The car is in pretty good shape for a car this old and prior to the rod issue (whiched popped up a couple months ago and I have had it parked ever since) I had done a lot of upgrades and repairs in anticipation of building the car up. In the last 3 years and 10k miles (as i said I only drove it 3 days week for a total of 80 miles per week) I have:
-put in a rebuilt T-45 transmission
-rebuilt the rear end with 373 gears
-upgraded rear suspension with new shocks and links
-replaced front shocks
-serviced AC system.
The car also has Ford motorsports springs 1" lower (with a bumb steer kit)
Maximum motorsports caster camber plates
EBC dimpled and slotted rotors/pads
Short throw shifter (not sure of the brand)
Ford Motorsports fr500 rims
Jensen flip out face radio.
Leather wrapped fr500 steering wheel
C&L MAF and conical filter
2 cat (car originally came with 4) H-pipe and flowmaster cat back.
The interior is in good shape as well for a mustang of this generation......there is the typical wear on the driver seat but no tears or rips in the upholstery and the plastic/vinyl carpets are all in good shape.
$3000 obo
Note: I have many more pics of the car but i was only able to upload 1 (file size to big i guess) so i can email more pics upon request.
Thanks, Matt
