Cooling help needed

I recently took my '04 TVS blown Cobra to my first road course (Track Night in America hosted by SCCA). It was a blast driving on Carolina Motorsports Park's 2.3 mile track until my expansion tank cap on the blower decided to blow the seal and spray coolant all over the passenger side of my windshield at 100 mph. Luckily I was on the long straight, so I just turned the wipers on with no issue. I pitted and saw the issue, so I pulled the cap off (very difficult to do when the engine is hot) and re-seated the seal and went for another lap. As soon as I got into the boost it happened again. After re-seating the seal and letting the pump run for 40 or so minutes, I went for another run. Again when I got into the boost it happened again. This time I took the screw out of the cap to see if that did anything and when I went for my forth run, it did the same except now the coolant came out of the area where the screw was, but didn't come out under little-to-no boost. With my description is this an issue with the cap or do I need to get fans for the heat exchanger? I emailed Lethal Performance to see if there has been reporting of their caps not relieving pressure on road courses during summer temps. I bought some Water Wetter to see if that helps and I am actively looking at getting the dual fans for the HE. Thanks in advance for advice

Forgot to add that the temp was in the low 90s and the humidity was pretty high. Also there was a guy driving a 2007 or 2008 GT500 and he was having the same issue with his bone stock car

Wonder if it was just too hot to drive it that hard as there was another car there with the same issue. Could that be the case?

I'm thinking the same..and I need to remove my blower to do this as well!

OP, boost pressure might be getting past the I/C tube o-rings, creating pressure in the system to blow the cap

Thanks for the feedback. I'll be changing out the o-rings before the next track meet (in about a month).

Hotcobra03 - Were you having issues only when at full boost?

These pumps do go on and off..and a good pump will make water in tank splash around like crazy nuts..

Just flowing water is a pump not working enough..

I cant recall on mine being i had both bad pump, oring leak and being 1st car like this..it was learning as you go..

Do a search on these pumps..

I had a few go bad..when taken apart it appears to be a brush issue causing these to be junk..

I think there are new brushless pumps now..

Havent seen any theads on it ..

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I'm going to do a search on these pumps and talk to some of the guys in my club to see what they recommend

Interesting. Well I guess I know my pump is working. After just a few pulls I pulled over and popped the hood on mine after the VMP install to look things over and I felt a lot of heat coming off the engine and saw the water jumping around and thought it might be boiling! I looked again when starting when I hadn't driven it hard and it was doing the same thing so I guess it just means the pump is working. What else can we do to cool these heat machines down. I thought the VMP would run a lot cooler but doesn't appear so but I haven't monitored the temps either
