Really just venting as I'm sick of hearing about the Demon and ZL1 while we are stuck with an anemic 526hp top level Mustang.
I'll be first to tell you I love the GT350, especially the R, and will own one eventually.
Just have a problem with Ford neglecting drag and street/strip guys, the majority of Mustang owners/racers.
SRT and Dodge really are killing it when you talk to enthusiasts of street cars. I currently DD a Charger Hellcat and I can tell you the Hellcat hype is legit and lives up to its reputation. Ford easily has the tools to build a competing car, even sedan; but apparently not the balls.
My point is Ford dropped the ball on the 50th anniversary of the GT500 and really need to offer a 'Drag Pack' in the next gen car. Definitely keep the 'Track Pack' for the press release, but in the street we need big power and traction in a straight line.
Ok, rant over, just sick of holding back when I hear all the Mustang bashing when guys talk to me about the Hellcat not knowing I'm a hardcore Mustang guy and I have to concede their point. As good as the GT350 is, it's a dog compared to the higher power Dodge and Chevy offerings.

You and me both. I've been waiting and waiting. I'm probably gonna buy a hellcat challenger in the next couple of months, because Ford hasn't given us a new 500 yet.

Its not like Ford didnt build a 662hp car that is much lighter than the HC and also handles better.

I think the Trinnity should be a competitive car if done right. The one huge advantage to the HC is the very efficient auto. Then again, I prefer manual only.

Hey James,

Will you be bringing the GT500 to Sylvania this Sunday?

Yes I plan to. Rear ice tank project is done and front splitter painted. Just need it striped and installed, talked to stripe guy yesterday. Might bring it either way but looks ugly with no front spoiler.

I hear you as I own both cars just the Trinity was 5 yrs now and while the GT350 is nice, that car can easily use 150-200 more hp.

Nothing wrong with an "older" car giving the newer HC a run for its money. But I undertand, you want something new.

Ford seems to be focusing on a great all around package rather than a 1/4 mile car. So the Ford power junkies will have to "make due" with Trinity cars, which is STILL a contender 4 yrs later.

My patience is running thin, especially when I can walk into my local dodge dealer today and pick up a hellcat for under MSRP knowing the stupid ADM game for the next GT500 is on the horizon.

Yeah, finding a dealer that won't rape you will definitely be the hard part. I stumbled into my 13 at MSRP as the original orderer couldn't get financing...not sure I'll be so lucky this time and no way I'm ever paying over MSRP.

oh God enough with the Hell cat! you guys realize it weighs nearly 700 lbs more then a new Mustang...... so its not a DRAG car or a HANDLING car so what exactly does it do?

I think ppl are getting all wrapped up in the fact that its a STOCK car. who gives a rats ass! who keeps their car stock anyway?

its a 10 second car like 10's of thousands of Mustangs out there with some simple blot-ons.

and not to mention the gas mileage is horrendous! 13 mpg city driving from the factory is gonna be 7-9 mpg when YOU are driving it! thats comical for a so-called sports-drag-street car or whatever their calling it..... smh

I guess I don't get it... if you want a GT-500 on the s550 platform - buy a s550 and BUILD one... then you get everything you want - exactly the way you want it.
I'm not dissing the 350 or the 500 - they are lovely - but it's not like whatever comes from the factory as a GT-500 isn't gonna be modified to make it faster by someone who is talking about drag / street cars... so - just cut out the Shelby middle-man branding and markup and build your own beast the way you want it for how you will be driving it - for less $$$...

Let me start by saying I would not own a Dodge product.

I do have to say the OP is right; Dodge and Chevy have been killing it with new cars and Ford has not done anything in 4 years (Focus RS and the GT aside). I am waiting and waiting for the new GT500 and the longer I wait the more I am thinking of going to a Corvette or Camero. I can walk into just about any Chevy dealer and get one for under MSRP. Why would I want to put myself through the agony of being told by countless Ford dealers they won't sell it for MSPR?

You do realize correct engineering a top performance car takes years. 3 years for the 350. Start at oct of 15 and add 3 years for the new 500. October of 18 and we're not to oct of 17 yet...

I myself get frustrated at the very high demand for Ford's top dog vehicles, causing adm and I was a sucker for the first time ever with my '16 350 and regret it honestly but I hope Ford comes out with a total package mustang, that can destroy a Demon and also run on a race track like the R can..

Haters gonna Hate. lol

People get wrapped up in "it's a stock car" because it is a 700+ hp stock car with full 5 year warranty that can run 10 sec. 1/4 mile with DR's straight out of the gate.

Add a couple pulleys, injectors and tune, you can be putting down close to 800 hp to the tire.

As for the last part of your post, who the hell goes out and buys a 700+ hp 10 sec. car and worries about gas mileage.
