I'm convinced people are listening to my phone calls.

Facebook listens when the app is open to hear key words and serve up ads and search suggestions. And this kind of thing is about to get a lot worse. ISPs (your internet provider) will soon be able to legally collect and sell your web browsing history to the highest bidder. So browse carefully.

I'd love to read your source on the ISPs being able to sell that data. Please post up the URL. If true, I forsee a significant increase in web proxies and VPNs.
EDIT: NM, I found many articles with a quick search. Seems the FCC rules are still in effect, but the ISPs are trying their hardest to get that rule nixed.

Might as well dive in all the way and enjoy the immersive experience, you arent about to avoid it or "opt-out" completely.

The technology is out there.

There are companies out there that have reached out to me to purchase their services. They set up a cyber net over me dealership, my competitors, other specific businesses, etc.... and can target specific groups of people based on their income, home address, sex, age.

I can literally pay this company to set up a "web" at my competitors lot, that any time a person with a GMAIL or Yahoo account walks on their lot, they automatically receive an email from me with some offer or discount for a purchase at our store.

Personally, I think it's bullshit to do that, and won't partake until it becomes an industry norm.

Yep that's geofencing. Becoming very popular.

The rules protecting consumers has yet to go into effect (was set for 12/2017) and will most likely be axed and never put in place. It was to establish an Opt-In policy, not opt-out. Will pretty much be free-reign for data collection on many facets, not strictly browser history.

"The privacy order had several major components. The requirement to get the opt-in consent of consumers before sharing information covered geo-location data, financial and health information, children’s information, Web browsing history, app usage history, and the content of communications. This requirement is supposed to take effect on December 4, 2017."

I've grown quite comfortable with Google knowing everything I like.

It has made searching porn so much easier...Ads...I mean ads...I get tailored ads to uh, ahem, my personal preferences.
