Currently on stock lower and 2.9 upper so max rpm at 6500 is 16,586.

Im considering getting a 4lb caged lower (anyone know the exact size of the pulley? Same as Metco at 8.6?)

If I kept the 2.9, Id be seeing 19,275 at 6500. I rarely ever take it there...almost an accident if I do. If I even run it that hard itll be @6200 which is 18300 or so.

Just curious who else overspins theirs and if there has even been an issue.

Thanks

I had a 3.00 upper and 4lb lower setup . It was making about 26lbs of boost. I now have the 3.00 with a 2lb lower making about 24lbs of boost. That was with a set of mac 1-5/8 headers. I have kooks 1-3/4 headers now. Not sure if that will drop the boost down a tad or not. I usually shift at around 6100 to 6200. I haven't had any problems with the blower with either pulley combos.

I was told by whipple I was overspinning mine with a 3.25 upper 4lb lower. I gained no power and my tq curve was flat. It looked horrible. No arc nothing. I dropped it back to a 3.5 upper and my tq curve is back to normal. I have been over spinning blowers for 14 years with this car. Never had this happen to me

Thats odd. Just did the math and thats 17200 at 6500 rpm? Its lower divided by upper times RPM right?

Thanks all for the info.

Whipple makes some tough shit. Over-spinning it a little should not be a problem...

I believe so. I have no Idea why whipple said that. Later down the line I will do turbo. Been playing and swapping blowers for 14 years with this car lol.

For anybody who's questions over spinning Whipple Supercharger look at the lightning crowd and how hard they spin those 2.3's and keep on moving.
