Just like the title says. I have been trying to find a reasonable priced puppy for my daughter for Christmas. Geez she wants a Teacup Yorkie but there is no way I can afford $3,000.00 to $11,000.00 for a pup. That's right $11,000.00 for a pup that fits in a cup. Crazy. Well during the search I found some in the $600.00 to $1,000.00 range. Started negotiations on purchasing. Well I was Security Officer for a bank for close to 20 years and when they told me they needed the money wired by Western Union Moneygram, I knew it was not legitimate. So far in the last week or so I have busted 6 different individuals trying to sell puppies that were really scammers. I have had some of them contact me and tell me they were ready to ship the puppy just send them the money. Best one was one person trying to get me to send the money I asked for the last 5 - 6 digits of their drivers license so that I could include it during the transfer so that the receiving end could verify the person getting the money was who was supposed to be getting it. They refused saying the following and I am quoting.

i won't sell for u anymore, someone else paid for the puppy this morning, thanks for your time.

Sell for me???? I was trying to buy from them. I started playing with the people after I figured from their first conversation on each one of them that they were scammers. It was fun but then I got mad. I have yet to find a puppy for her.

I HATE SCAMMERS. They are wasting my time and efforts.

Is she dead set on a yorkie? You need to tell her straight up that they are way up there on price. Unless this will be a surprise gift. You can always make the sacrifice and pony up the cash as this will be a gift that keeps on giving.

I personally suggest you look into the Maltese breed if everything else fails.

With her allergies to dogs we thought a Yorkie would be best because of the "human" type hair factor. Yes we have looked at a Maltese but we are running into basically the same thing on them.

We have a havanese. Great dogs with quite the personality. Hypoallergenic too. Most are between 9 and 13 pounds. We got a monster....she's 24!

Your problem is you are dealing with breeders which are disgusting ****ing humans.

Stop being a bitch, smack you spoiled daughter and adopt a rescue dog. She don't need some designer Yorkie that she'll lose all interest in once the novelty wears off. Need a tinny animal? Buy a hamster.

I adopted Duke from city animal control for $20. They neutered him and got him up to date on his shots. He's a gentle giant and has been a marvelous dog.

Scammers definitely running rampant. Was selling some stuff on craigslist and was hit up several times by "buyers" that wanted to send the money via MoneyGram and for me to ship the item.

It just didnt "smell" right to me. The bad English was also a good indicator to not do business with them.

Im with Corbic,

Take her to the shelter and have her rescue a dog of her liking. It will be incredibly rewarding for the both of you to actually save a dog that will be eternally grateful and loyal.

Along with cocker spaniels, yorkies have been known to bite people quite a bit...just another factor to consider.....good luck

please stop with the generalized 'this breed does this' bullshit.

Its how you raise the animal, period. Pitbulls can be nice, and poodles can be vicious. Been raising dogs / puppies all my life, and have NEVER had an aggressive dog, because you break them of that.

and lol at vicious yorkie, what's it gonna do maul your ankle? How terrifying.

Just keep looking, OP. But they are one of the more expensive brands. Check out local animal shelters, etc. I can help you look if you'd like.

My fiance has a cocker spaniel and he's a really cute dog. Extremely obedient for the most part, and he loves to hang out with me in the shop and just chill.

He's an ankle biter though when he gets around people he doesn't know, especially dudes. He's not really biting to hurt, he just grabs the leg of their jeans and pulls on it a few times lol. He wants them to know he's the boss. We've tried to break him of it but he still does it.

My ex girlfriend wanted a Yorkie like nothing else. She was crazy so I had to break it off. I like big dogs so the smallest I was willing to go was cocker spaniel. Fiance loves her cocker so I'm happy.

If your dead set on a Yorkie, why not try a mixed breed? You get the "mutt" benefits (Our Mutts always seemed to live longer with less health problems), and you usually don't get raked over the coals on prices. We got our Shih-Tzu/Yorkie (Shorkie) mix from a breeder in the local paper for $300. AKC papers and registrations are only good if you want to show or breed a dog IMO, and not worth overpaying for.

I will add. Be careful of the teacup. Wife bought Yorkie (my allergies). Our dog is not a "teacup". Ours is a bigger one about 10 pounds and is more durable. Plus the smaller ones have health issues or jacked up traits because they are breeding for size.

**** breeders! Go down to the humane society and get a rescue dog. That's all we have ever had, and they are badass plus they get a new lease on life.

One of my favorite things is taking down FB spam accounts. You're in a car group and some attractive female posts a link that looks like a youtube video, but it's jpeg that links back to their own foreign ran BS clickbait blog. **** THEM! I report them as using a fake name and FB usually yanks their account. More so, these people run multiple accounts, so I always open their friends list and report all their other fake accounts.

Via one spam post a few days ago, here's the account I got deleted from Facebook:

Try to expose her to several different breeds to see what works for her. Honestly i can't even fathom over 3k for a 7lb hair ball. I paid a decent amount for my boxer but that dog puts a smile on my face every time I see her to the point that I'm considering a second. Lol

Different strokes different folks. The way your boxer makes you feel is the same way my girls yorkie makes her feel. Seems odd to say 'that's too much to pay for a dog, but I paid a good bit for my dog, but it makes sense because he's bigger'

Do you want a tiny dog? What about a poodle-mix? Mini goldens are hypoallergenic, and most dont shed. I rescued my Wolfhound-poodle; he isnt allergenic. and about 10% of one of those yorkies cost.

And teacup yorkies are dicks- my sister has one. Little bastard just pees and 'barks' at everything. Tries to intimidate my 90lb dog, barks at my year old niece, and is just overall an ass. Punters, for sure.

That's weird. Our yorkie is sweet as can be. She is a gets excited at times. But never barks unless someone beats on the door. And plays gentle with tug a war with our 13 month old.
