I had posted that my 2012 gave up the ghost. I had received a lot of suggestions to go with a 2015 bottom end since really my goal to make 750ish and have a mild manor street car. I was looking for pros and cons of this. Thanks for the help

Why not just go with Manley rods and forged pistons?

Factory Rods are weak sauce and living on borrowed time at that power level.

The 15's are proven reliable at 750ish, that's the goal. And it's not just as simple as putting piston and rods in. I will need to source a block or use my stock block(if it's usable) bore it, sleeve it back to a stock bore. Then all the other things. The I beams I am looking to put in my blown up motor will cost what a whole 15 short block will cost me.

I am looking at both aspects, I am. But to build a new short block is quite a financial undertaking when the car is still a motor car with plans of making no more then 750 wheel.

havent you already grenaded 2 stock motors? Doesnt seem like you're one that should be putting in another motor you're gonna push toward the edge. Do it right once and be done

Use a 15 block. However, if you've grenaded two motors....who's doing your tuning?

Our shop routinely cranks them up to 800-900whp without issues. Hell my girls car makes 672whp on stock boost, stock tb, and pump gas. If we put her on corn it'd be close to 750.

I have. I am really only taking responsibility for this one. The first one gave up on me stock with low miles on it so I am going with a defect in that. I am taking full liability on this one, this one was me, I pushed this car to the ragged edge and it finally got hurt. The ONLY reason I am looking to go with a 15 bottom end is money. Like I said in my previous post, I am a young home owner and money isn't as prevalent and the built motor will take some time vs a 15 short block, OPGs, sprocket and a rev auto E85 tune will give me lots of life as a full bolt on car.

Like I said in the previous post, the first motor I want to put up to early defects as it blew up in 2011/2012 with the famous "#8"

As for who tuned the second motor I won't state as I can't really put the blame on the tuner and won't drag anyone's name down on a car that I beat the **** out of. I revved this car to the moon(shocked I didn't kill a OPG) and I raced this car hard....HARD. So I would prefer to not state who tuned it as I was super hard on the car. As for my new tune, Adam from Rev Auto(local) will be doing my tune on ethanol.

Right on. As long as you know the rougher you are on your shit the more likely it is to break

But the 15 blocks had the 13-14 boss guts in em, with some upgrades. So <900whp you'll be fine on stock motor, with corn.

700-800whp is not a problem for the 2015+ block. Given your goals, that is probably the most economical way to go. I would even try to find a low mileage used one if the money is tight. Like was previously mentioned, get a better tuner.

Absolutely am, now if I drove this car like a nun and never revved it past 5000 I would have some concerns. But that wasn't the case so bashing a tuner isn't my game. Like I stated, I AM seeking other tuning options.

And for now it's going to be the same FBO killer. The car flat out worked on the old setup.

This new motor will get OPG's and I will slowly sleeve and build the block in the car and when the time comes I will go twins/400 with a brake and see what it will do lol

Tuner is picked, I don't think anyone will doubt rev auto's tune. And money isn't "tight" per say, but spending $8,000 on a motor when I want new siding, front door and garage re done seems I can spend that money smarter elsewhere. Now if I still lived at home this wouldn't be a question lol

Again, I said 750 is the end goal. This car will remain the same full bolt on car that it is today in the low 430 range on ethanol.

As I stated, your idea and my idea of "no money" may be different. I am 26, work for the state and just bought my first home. While I HAVE the money in savings to build exactly what I want....I can think of better, smarter ways to spend the $8,000 as a first year home owner. So while I am not willing to aimlessly spend money on what is untimely a toy that sits in my garage most of the time I wouldn't classify it as no money.

Still a stock MT82. While I have the motor out I am having the trans done. The guys that have seen me drive on this page know I love to no lift shift it and it's held up. So I am going to do pads, syncros and whatever else Ben does. Im' going to inspect the clutch and see what we can make happen.

Ford put one in under warranty, I put a syncro in the current one 2 years ago. The night the motor broke the trans sounded like a PD blower car. So I think it's on its way out but I got my money out of this trans haha

But 9/10 times my foot doesn't leave the floor haha

If I build this motor to what I want I am going to crank it to it with twins. At that point I doubt the 6R80's even with billet input and intermediates will last at 1200+ so I would go 400. A local guy to me has a 400 in his coyote and it RIPS. But that is ALL a pipe dream, realistically I will finish the house, buy my truck(car broke Thursday night I was going to buy a new F150 Friday but I backed off till this is sorted) and replenish money then I can look at building a race car.

Mustang in reference.

I paid less than $1,900 for a 2015 short block to replace the one I blew. It will not come with the weaker chain sprocket like the '15s and '16s use. Use your old one. It drops right in. Comes with the oil filter adapter, but not the $5 part the filter threads onto. I added Boundary OPGs.
