Youth Movement
Popular with younger customers, Ford Performance vehicles are selling well

With all the talk that younger people aren’t as interested in driving, there is some good news from the Blue Oval. Apparently younger drivers with higher income apparently like to splurge on Ford Performance vehicles. Ford is predicting impressive sales numbers for its hopped-up machines in 2016.

The company describes the both the 2017 Focus RS and Shelby GT350 and GT350R as sold out in every region they are available. Meanwhile, the Mustang is dominating in sales and we all know that even the Ford GT supercar had far more orders than its small-volume production would support.

In all, Ford predicts that it will sell over 200,000 performance vehicles in 2016, which is triple the sales volume of just a few years back. That is great news for enthusiasts. As long as the vehicles we love, keep selling, the company will keep pursuing enhancements for these platforms.

“Ford’s commitment to performance leadership continues, with Ford on track to deliver 12 new performance vehicles promised by the end of the decade,” Dave Pericak, Global Director, Ford Performance, said.

With Ford Performance committed to produce 12 new vehicles by the close of the decade, the Raptor and Ford GT will join this party as the year winds down. That should boost the performance sales momentum heading into next year.

Ford expects to sell 200,000 performance vehicles in 2016, and the 2017 Raptor hasn’t even driven off dealer lots yet. It is expected to go on sale this fall.

Sorry Ford the 16 GT350 and 16 Focus RS aren't sold out until they are all off dealer lots. Crack down on you're greedy dealers already! My wife's 16 RS ordered in Feb has been sitting at the Port of Baltimore for two weeks now. The dealer is only 15 miles away from the port. The transportation process from factory to dealer has been horrible. Also the quality control on my GT350 has been subpar. Pretty intense dash rattles, rear bumper sag from the increased weight of the valance and bad axle. Don't even get me started on "limp" mode.

Now despite all that I like my GT350 and Ford Performance, but they really need to step their game up on the QC, packing decisions and purchasing experience to ensure long-term continued success.
