No dyno numbers yet. Going on week 2 with these L&M intake and the baby CJ exhaust cams. They run great at wot! Screams all the way to 7,900rpm, comes on real strong at around 4,000rpm. I highly recommend you run this combo with 3.55 or greater gears. The cj exhaust cams are prone to reversion and can cause a part throttle drivability issue in 6th around 2,000rpm. It's not a huge deal. Just annoying more than anything. If you have 3.31's I'd recommend sticking with just the intake cams.

Update: Cams are in! Took a few days as I was doing opg's, valve springs, and the baby cj exhaust cams at the same time. Shaun sent me a base tune and I have it logged and done. He sent me the updated tune yesterday afternoon so all that's left is to upload it to the car and head To a dyno! Initial impressions are there are no drivability concerns with these cams. Car runs perfect. Felt stronger on the base tune. Can't wait to see what it does with the update and e85.

Just curious what kind of springs you decided to add, Boss, Livernois or some other? And how much extra to do the springs as opposed to just the cams. I know it's quite a lot of work to do the springs and am debating whether to go this route or postpone and do the heads and cams, etc altogether at a later date.

I used boss valve springs and timing chain tensioners. You can expect $1,200 or so in labor to swap springs and install cams. It's not for the faint of heart. There's things I could've gone cheaper on but I over engineer everything I do. I installed opg's, arp hardware(where possible), and I did the valve springs as more of a safety precaution. The L&M intake cam will work with stock gt springs. I just wanted every bit of security I could get as I shift at 7,900rpm now. Lol

Just a heads up...I bought the Ford Racing 11mm with higher duration exhaust cams on eBay for $350.00 shipped...and team JDM engineering has them for sale for $209.00 plus shipping.

I received the intake cams this past week from L&M engines and I'm currently waiting for the boss cylinder heads to get delivered from Livernois. I'll probably set up a tread on my build and see how things go. Oh ya...and I got my kooks 1 3/4 headers ceramic coated blue by Jet Hot delivered as a well. Sweet.

Oh, that was you!! I was about to buy them and I forgot to do it for whatever reason and the following day it was gone :-D . I tried JDM, we will see since not all have a good inventory system.

FYI, the 290 exhaust cams are not 'required' to run the L&M/AED intake cams.

The Intake cams will make power over stock regardless of the exhaust cams you have.

The exhaust cams will net more power at high RPM in exchange for low/midrange torque. The intake cams will make power at RPM without sacraficing any power in the low/midrange.

IE the Intake cam alone will net 15-20HP gains on an NA application without hurting low/midrange torque regardless of exhaust cam. The 290 exhaust cams are worth 10-15HP at the cost of at least that much low/midrange.

Would a set of LT headers be a better choice over the 290 exhaust cams in this application?

Reason I am asking this is I pulled the trigger on a set of these cams and already have the 290 bcj cams sitting on a shelf, and LT's are on the car. At this point I am looking for a little more low end grunt to make up for some of the torque loss seen with the CJ Intake. (although that's only really noticeable on paper)
Now I am wondering if I should hold off on the exhaust cams, at least for the time being, or even sell them.

No, that is not correct.

As stated many times in this thread and based on the dyno graphs posted on page 1 the Intake Cams only ADD power up top without losing any power in the low/mid range.

Exhaust cams will add power up top AND lose power in the low/midrange.

Yup, I remember taking about that with you. I figured it won’t hurt, especially since I just picked up a set of CNC heads from Livernois with upgrades springs. We’ll see what happens, once I get everything assembled and Dyno’d.

Shaun, it looks like I found that thread that you mentioned. I did not know that the 290 cams lose power down low. I may have to rethink that part and just go with the L&M intakes. I do not want to lose any more power down low and get stomped on by mini vans at red lights.

Just Do It!

Well, I got these cams installed and threw a Circle D 4C in with the mix along with a set of OPG's and Boss chain tensioners in just for good measure. All I can tell you folks is if you think you want these cams, you do! These compliment a CJ mani, and prolly a Boss mani as well unlike anything I can think of short of going FI. I did not do the spring upgrade since this car is mainly daily driver and will only see the strip a couple times a year. Bottom line is this car is a whole different animal. It continues to pull all the way up to 7800 where it shifts. The torque converter nullifies any torque loss down low,(from the CJ Mani), so that is a non issue. I have to go back to my tuner to get my rear O2's replaced and a retune once they are in, so I haven't gone to the track and don't know any Dyno results just yet. But what I do know is this thing runs like a scalded dog and can't wait to see what it does once it is all dialed in.
I did run up on one of the new 6gen SS Camaros on a recent trip to Mexico this past weekend and walked away from him 3 for 3. I had a passenger and he did not, which makes me feel even better about this mod. It was an Auto and still had the dealer tag on it.

I'm on the fence about doing these cams, I'm building a new motor right now for the car and it's in-between these intake cam and ported or 2015+ heads. Sixpak, did you have a CJ manifold prior to the cam install?

Yes. Only for about a month tho when I heard about the intake only cams.
