Well said. If it's not your daily driver then be patient and save up. Using your block MPR will add Manley rods and Pistons including labor for 3,295 which is good for 900 Whp all day if you should ever want it. Oh and you most likely will eventually want it and wish you had built it stronger.
I can get it done for a good bit less than what MPR charges. I may go that route IF my block is not hurt. Block hurt = 2015 short block. Mahle rods and pistons are pretty inexpensive.

Honestly, if you are trying to push more power, it makes more sense to buy a '16 Aluminator short block rather than put in another stock motor. I know for a fact that you can get the new ones for $5300 shipped. Yes, the stock 15-16 motors are a slight upgrade from the 11-14 motors, but they fail the same. New '16 Aluminators come with oil pump gears, Manley rods, Mahle pistons, etc. so you really just drop it in and go.

If you goal is 750 or less, yeah I could see the stock 15-16 motor is a viable option with a set of oil pump gears. But if your goal is 750 or more, and want it to live, the '16 Aluminator is pretty damn cost effective.

Or if you're like me, and want fancier parts, you can always go to MPR ;)

that is where I'm leaning. Hoping they will be on sale at the end of the year again

For 5500 why not just go with that deal livernois posted in the other thread or the mps or something like that. Or is the aluminator just as good?

Would the '16 Aluminator crate engine bolt up fine to an 11-14 Mustang? I'm assuming yes.
A '16 Aluminator/supercharged would be an awesome option for me as it's all new with all the goodies.

Yes, you can physically install it. The engine harness may be different, and the Copperhead ECU definitely will not control the different timing components on the 15+ Coyotes.

here is a link to the '15 shortblock:

http://www.partsmaven.com/ford/ford...im/5-0l-v8-gas-engine/engine-cat/oil-pan-scat

Also check out the price of the heads at the bottom of the link. $1000 for both but there is a $500 core charge. Still $1500 for '15 heads

I called the local dealership that my work does service though and they said they would price match this price plus shipping ($100). They said they might need the vin because there's 3 options, coyote 5.0, voodoo 5.2 and Coyote SVT 5.0. The 3rd one set me back as I knew nothing about it. I asked him the differences and he said he wasn't 100% but the crank was held in differently to be stronger for power adders or something to that extent but he would find out tomorrow and let me know for sure.

Has anyone heard of the SVT shortblock? Googl didn't seem to help and the search function on this forum is useless these days.

Hey said it was the replacement for the BOSS short block and has upgraded parts to 1,000HP. He said he could get it to me for $200 more which I think is worth the gamble.

Thoughts?

A short block for $2300 that can handle 1000hp? Sounds like snake oil to me...

From what I've seen the difference in the 2 5.0 coyote shortblocks is one comes with the standards oil pressure switch and the other comes with the oil pressure sensor for the performance pack cars that have an actual gauge on the dash

That's what I thought but he says the system states that's what it's for. I guess I'll need to compare the pistons to stock ones. Suggestions?

The boss is suppose to have forged pistons. Can you get a part number for the short block?
