Amsoil finally decided enough Ford vehicles were on the streets and track to formulate a Signature Series lubricant that meets API SN and Ford WSS-M2C931-C requirements. This is a big deal for those who are worried about not having Ford's recommended SAE lubricant in their Mustang.

Amsoil Signature Series 5W-50

This is the only known lubricant to carry Ford's recommendation code other than Motorcraft 5W-50.

APPLICATIONS
AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil is excellent for use in all types of gasoline-fueled vehicles. It is recommended for all domestic and foreign vehicles requiring any of the listed performance specifications:

5W-50 (AMR): API SN, SM...; Ford WSS-M2C931-C (Mustang)

This also means Amsoil's Warranty will now cover your Condor, Roadrunner, Coyote or Ford GT Supercar engine that is spec'd for 5W-50.

I will edit my recommendation for the Boss 302, Track Pack GT, and GT500 vehicles used on closed course tracks and for those who do not want anything else in their Mustang except 5W-50.

Preferred Customers can purchase this formulation for $8.15 per quart or $92.85 per case (12 quarts). Amsoil's EaO11 oil filter is recommended for all engines aforementioned.

With Amsoil's desire to produce only the best formulation possible, I'd assume it's more shear resistant than Motorcraft 5W-50. However, only time and testing will tell.

Took them long enough....
My dad can now buy Amsoil for his GT500... he would buy oil filters , but said he was not going to run anything other than 5/50.

There are a lot of owners who were very worried their warranty would void if 5W-50 wasn't used. Even those it's be proven otherwise, I feel this formulation is still required for those who must have exactly what Ford recommends and those who close course race this car. Your dad will be a happy camper now.

Great find, shadyninja! Thanks for posting.
No Prob... I know what my dad will be ordering Monday.

He would not sway from 5/50 no matter what... I didnt even know they were planning on making this oil so this is great news!

I was just about to place an order for Amsoil in 10-w 30 per recommendation of Beast. As soon as I saw that picture of the bottle with Amsoil 5-w 50 I could not believe it. I then picked up the phone and ordered 2 cases. I guess now the guestion for Beast is Would you still go with Amsoil in 10 w 30 or go with the new Amsoil in 5-w 50 or does it matter.

For a street driven Boss 302, or Track Pack GT, yes....would have still used ATM 10W-30. 5W-50 is overkill for street use only, and will exhibit excessive oil pressure the engine doesn't need. This lubricant is only practical when the car is raced on twisty tracks. I'm glad this lubricant was released, for two reasons only.

Those who are warranty concerned, insisting to only use what Ford recommends (what's on the oil cap). They can now use Amsoil Signature Series.

Those who road course race the car now have a 50 grade lubricant with better cold flow properties below freezing.

If you took my advice from other threads, do not worry. You are likely better off for your application and use.

Beast, question: I've been using 10w30 in my '13 shelby gt500 ever since I bought it new and the engine has run good ever since. I changed the oil from mc 5w50 to mobil 1 10w30 the very same day I bought it and the car has the stock thermostat. I'm in Tampa bay where it doesn't get too cold. The question is how come certain cars like the corvette zr1 and the '15 z06 call for 5w30 factory recommendation and not 5w50 even though they are also supercharged just like the shelby? My car also gives good mileage with the 10w30. I only used mobil 1 one time and have been using Penn ultra after the second oil change. Do you think there is going to be any long term damage if I continue to use 10w30? I don't track or race the engine except for an occasional moron that wants to do a 5 second run from the red light.

No long term damage at all, assuming it's street use only. Different manufacturers call for different viscosity lubricants due to bearing clearances and other design reasons. I've been saying this for years, Ford went a bit overboard calling for 5W-50.

You will soon notice I am recommending everyone with a 2007-2014 GT500 to use Amsoil's new AZF 0W-40 for street use, no matter which thermostat is installed. It's a no compromise formulation for the Hellcat which will work perfectly in the GT500's engine on the street.
