As some may have been following, I've been working with Michael at L&M Engines on an intake cam profile to gain power at RPM without sacrificing any low/midrange power. Together we've come up with a unique camshaft that gains power with no compromises. No loss of power at any RPM, no valve float at high RPM with stock valve springs, no loss of drivability, easy to tune, and FULL VCT movement allowed.

This cam is just a few degrees larger in duration with the same 11MM lift as a stock GT cam.

The kicker here is we did not test this cam against a stock GT camshaft, we tested it against a BOSS 13MM camshaft. Yes, we GAINED power with 2MM LESS lift simply by adjusting the valve events to a more ideal location while still allowing FULL VCT movement without using an aggressive lobe profile. (IE no valve float or issues with boost)

AED is fully supporting tuning of this intake cam in all NA and Boosted applications, however if you want to use your current tuner that should not be a problem. This cam drives/idles like stock and tuning was extremely straight forward, nothing like dialing in Comp Stage 3's. Just a few TiVCT changes are needed to extract maximum power.

For reference this car has an Aluminator XS engine with full exhaust and a Tremec Manual trans.

Below are the dyno graphs. I've posted 2 as we had a torque spike show up in the Graph VS RPM (happens sometimes due to dyno software) that does not show up on the Graph VS Speed.
Pre-cam dyno pulls were done the day of the cam swap. We strapped the car down, warmed it up and made a few pulls. The highest power graph is posted for comparison against the L&M Intake cam graph.

Very interesting. In your opinion, what kind of gain would you expect over a stock GT camshaft?

That is interesting! Couple of questions. Since this car had an XS engine, do you feel there would be any difference with the stock GT exhaust cam vs the Boss cams? Also, would you really run the stock springs to over 8000 RPM with a similar setup on a GT (CJ intake, etc). Also, those numbers are by far the best I've seen for an XS motor posted anywhere. Did you have to do a lot of initial tuning on the stock engine to get it there?

Great to hear Shaun. This sounds like a great add on for us Cobra Jet intake guy's looking for a little more top end power. I assume these are drop in? Any pricing yet? Thanks.

That's because the lift isn't what adds the power in these cars, it is the duration. Cool gains and should be a cheaper option instead of going with a full set of cams.

Yes, there will be similar gains with GT exhaust cams, these were designed to add power on any setup. 8000RPM is not a problem on the GT cams, and it will not be a problem with the L&M intake profile used here.

Absolutely correct. Duration and proper valve events are more important than peak lift.

Designing something like these ( that actually work ) is a monumental task. Kudos to all involved!
My guess is the cams have more advanced intake events by design than factory grinds.
Being that this is an XS its has cnc ported Boss heads/springs/valves, CJ intake, tbody etc.
Did you retain the 13/290 exhaust cams?
How much to you think this particular combo attributed to the results vs a regular bolt on GT.

I look forward to seeing what the GT-350 heads will do on both stock and 5.2 bore with correct camshafts customized for the specific combo.

Yes.
The test car had the 13MM SCJ cams. The Baby CJ's would work just fine. As would stock exhaust cams.
That is the beauty of this swap, it's independent of the exhaust cam. It will gain power at RPM without sacrificing low/midrange on any setup.

Reminds me of my older 4V days, where adding 15-20 degrees duration on the intake cams added 20whp. (installing 96-98 Cobra Intake cams in 03/04 Mach 1 engines)
