good write up, Appreciate it
Is there a need to use a straight edge when installing the pump back onto the crank? I know ls motors your have to check clearances in the gears and get it perfectly centered
great write up. I just did mine, thanks.. one thing I did that aided in getting the oil pickup back on was I used a piece of electric tape about 10 inch's long I poked a hole in the tape with a small screw driver at one end, then I inserted the bolt in the back oil pick up hole (hard one) afterward I push the tape on to the bolt to hold it on the pick up. once I got the bolt started I pulled the tape out and tightened the bolt up. the reason for the tape being long was to ensure I was able to grab it
Nope, just throw them in and go.
Thats a smart idea, someone else mentioned something along those lines.
While this is true for the most part the moduar oil pump can be installed off center, it will cause the gear to click as it is rotated, we generally suggest the pump be installed with the bolts just above hand tight, then rotate the engine 1-2 revolutions, this will center the pu mp and at that point you can tighten it to spec.
