Got a bolt on car. Tuner, long tubes with full exhaust, and 3.73's. This car is an automatic. As of right now it is daily driven for the most part in summer but gets parked in the winter. What intake is best for this car? Would I be better with the CJ or the Boss intake? Maybe another choice? That being said I will need to get a CAI and basicly haven't gotten to that part just because of not wanting to buy another one later on.

Then if I add a turbo later years down the road would the same intake be the best choice for now?

1. No CAI will be compatible w a turbo. If you want to go the turbo road, just park 400 in an investment account and buy a nice mutual fund until you have the turbo kit funds.

2. Boss IM is compatible with turbos, CJ is not without heavy custom fabrication

3. If you're just looking to make your engine bay pretty PM me and I'll sell you my airaid MIT for $50

4. The stock air box works pretty well. The most you're gonna get w a cai on the road is 5-6 hp, which isn't super worth it for 300-400 bucks.

5. Cai recommended by a lot of tuners is airaid. I went Steeda because I like the looks of the Steeda better and it flows really well, but it has slightly higher iats due to aluminum components and you won't benefit from a bigger tb

I know the CAI would be worthless with a turbo.

Why does it take so much to get the CJ to work with a turbo?

I don't need engine bay to look pretty.

That's why I haven't bought one also.

Let's get away from the turbo thing and just think about now. I know I will have to do a tune. I would like to do an intake and convertor over the winter. We will see though. But as of now that is the way it looks just need to decide what is best. I might get some suspension stuff but that is for another day.

If your going turbo the boss mani looks good, if your staying NA definitely go CJ intake. Unless your going built motor you will never max out the stock intake coupled with the turbo. I had the CJ before going FI and it moves the powerband up top and really pulls strong.

In my limited knowledge, I believe the issue with the Cobra Jet intake manifold with turbos is that the Cobra Jet intake connector is ovular?

If I were you, I would just get a converter and AED tune and call it a day. Stock mani > boss mani unless you get cams etc. CJ mani no bueno w turbo

Everything is in the tune and Shawn knows where everything is lol

The only CAI worth getting is the Airaid. It has the best MAF signal (important for Auto especially) and the largest opening on the throttle body side so you can run an Accufab 85mm and gain a bit more too. Sadly an Airaid CAI with accufab will only net about 10whp total, but it's more than nothing.

Been low 11.90's on 90 degree day. So I would say we don't get to many 100 degree days. I was really hoping to get to run it during a nice 50-60 degree day.

Track DA? "Bigs n' littles" or street tires? That's damn good for a tuned car with exhaust work and gears. I wouldn't consider an 11.9xx ET "easy" 11's though. That's tippy top ceiling 11's lol.

If I were you, I'd invest in a converter. Best bang for the buck in your situation.

I have an auto as well. Im staying 3.15 gears. I have long tubes waiting to get installed. Then in going cobra jet with mono blade tb.

If you're going turbo, I'd stay with the stock manifold and invest that money in to top quality part for your turbo build. I don't plan on anything more than the CJ set up and maybe 100 shot.

Good luck

Don't know what track DA was. No bigs and little either. The car had a set of used old style no life left in them Mickey Thompson's with some cords showing. I was really hoping to get it to the strip with big and littles this year but my work just isn't letting us off at all. We are behind and working our butts off.
