Kelly, just wanted to say thanks for the instructional video on setting pinion angle. I set it using a different set of instructions and I had a bad vibration. I set it to -1 you method, and it is vibration free :)

Hi Kelly,

like noldevin, I too am looking at a similar set-up for my 2014 GT TP NA, although mine is not a DD. But, many of the same goals (great handling - primarily street for now - no wheel hop - firm but not harsh ride).

I will be replacing the DS with a one piece, so good time to upgrade the UCA. Following is what I have sitting in the closet - ready to start soon. Appreciate your suggestions on set-up/hole location settings, and any other tips/tricks! This is a very helpful thread!

1. Koni Yellows Front/Rear
2. Steeda Sport Springs (~1 inch drop)
3. Ground Control CC Street plates
4. BMR LCA (ACA004)
5. BMR LCA Relo (CAB005)
6. BMR UCA (UTCA032) with bracket (UCM002)
7. BMR Panhard Bar (PHR006)
(might add the SB042 if you think it will contribute to the goal)

Thanks Kelly!

Personally, I would set it up like this to start. ( Great parts you chose btw )

Alignment:
Front
1/16" toe in, total
-1.5 degrees camber on each side
7.5 - 8 caster

Rear
Thrust Angle as close to 0 as possible

Settings:
Front Koni's to 50% stiff
Rear Konis 25%
UCA in Upper Hole
LCA in Middle Hole
Pinion Angle at -1.5~ or so.

I would recommend an adjustable front bar, before the rear.

Hey Kelly, on the new elastomer control arms, how often should they be greased?

Whenever you feel like it. It really depends on the grease you use. If you use the Amsoil stuff, I'd say Jan 1st each year. ;)

WOOT!

I do want to apologize my friend. I was not myself yesterday. I came down with a severe case of Strep, and sinusitis. I am all loaded up today on meds, so I feel much better. Even though I can't talk....lol

Let me know how it all goes.

I have a shaftmasters aluminum driveshaft, getting ready to lower on BMR springs (along with shocks/struts, panhard, lca relo, etc. The whole 9.)

How concerned do I need to be about pinion angle on this setup? Since this driveshaft uses U joints (I think, memory escapes me), I don't have the luxury of ignoring it, correct?

FWIW, this is my SC'ed DD that sees the track every month or two, and spends a good bit of time in Mexico.

Okay since this is a suspension all in one thread I have a question thats eating at me. I'm sure its been mentioned somewhere in here, but I plan on buying ford racing P springs. What is this crap with having to get strut mounts that's so hard for me understand? 2011-2014s got shafted with shitty strut mounts?

Thanks

The stock strut mounts arep retty much not re-usable, as the bearings have a high tendancy to fall apart once removed.

The GT500 strut mounts are the preferred option when replacing them, however they can only be used with an 05-10 style strut. See the top of this page for the differences in the strut shaft.

if i have adjustable UCA and LCA and PHB which should i adjust first? Also, at what point when lowering a suspension are LCA relocation brackets necessary?

Can valvoline Multi-purpose grease made for suspension be used on the lca and panhard bars?

I am not familiar with the Valvoline. I have tested most lubricants, but I have not tested the Valvoline Multi-Purpose.

You just want to ensure the grease you use, is full synthetic.

My personal favorite is the AMsoil Polymeric. This stuff resists wash out, and push out, better than anything I have ever tested.

Typically, RLCA Relocation Brackets will benefit any combo that has been lowered < .750"

If your entire suspension is adjustable, then I recommend:

-Set panhard bar
-Set LCA for thrust angle / wheelbase (OEM is 107.1" wheelbase...I like 107.25" if you can get by with it)
-Set pinion angle

After that is completed, go back and check the PHR adjustment to ensure the axle/body relation is within 1/8".

Which applications do you recommend SP068(drag) springs? A6? M6? DR? Slick? N/A? Power Adder? On your site, it seems that the description is wrong in a few places that it describes handling and autocross for this "drag" spring. How much more performance is offer by the SP068 vs SP009 in a drag application? Will an Eibach drag airbag fit in your springs? Thanks!

Also, can your upcoming Watts link be run with the extreme antiroll bar?

Yeah, I got with my IT guy on that. I hope the site will be changed soon.

As for what applications, any. If a car is catered more towards straight line, then I recommend the SP068. They will handle better than a stock spring, so it's not as if they are like a sloppy drag spring or anything.

In a drag application, for the most part, there will not be a "huge" improvement from the SP009, to the SP068.

I am not sure if an Eibach Drag Bag will fit a rear spring.

As for the Watts, I am unsure if it will work with the ARB.

Kelly,
Hope this hasn't been asked yet. I have been looking at the SP009 springs for my 13 GT, but I have some concerns since I have the extra weight in the front due to a supercharger and being too low in the front. Would the SP071's keep my front from dropping more than 1.5" and use the SP012's in the rear to keep it level.
Thanks

^ Absolutely.

That is one of the reasons we offer pairs....so I can cater to each persons needs.

You could also do the GT500 Drag Springs....as they are basically a GT500 version of the SP009. ;)

Hello Mr BMR, im in need of your assistance.... so i drive a 2014 5.0 auto with some bolt ons and a tune. Next on my list is suspension, so I'll be going with the bmr lowering springs as ive read they are some of the best. I only roll race so what else do i need to start? Are shocks/struts and control arms needed?
im still on stock 18s if that matters but next on the list are wider and bigger 20s. Looking for the best roll race package. Thanks in advance

In that case, here is your best package of parts.

SP009 - Performance Springs
PHR006 - Panhard Bar, Adjustable
CAB005 - LCA Brackets
TCA032 - LCA w/ Poly Ends
VIKB226 - Viking Double Adjustable Rear Shocks

I have got 8 second cars running this same package, and I've got some serious roll race cars running this set-up.

If you have just a little bit more room to spend, I would go ahead and grab the STR-S6009LM struts and the GT500 Mounts while you are at it.

Enjoy!

Would i be able to rune the strange shocks instead of the Vikings to save a little coin or are the vikings really that much better?

What advantage does the SP009 provide over a stock spring when it comes to straight line performance? the spring rates for stock springs are lower and the spring itself is taller, it would seem at quick glance that these are better for weight transfer.

None for performance... Maybe looks. Stockers work great at the drag strip
