Installing 3.31 yesterday and go to press new pinion bearing. Apparently the '13 BOSS 13/14 gt500 share same new LARGER pinion bearing that is not the same as the GTs. Finding out it may share the same pinion bearing as '12 f150 but cannot confirm

Does any one have the part number of a quality bearing that fits the 13/14 gt500 that I can get from the part store today? Other wise I am dead in the water till I can deal with ford next week.

Thanks

The bearing and race are different but when measured as a unit the OD, ID and overall depth is the same. You should be able to get a matched bearing and race set from a '10 and it'll work fine.

Ive never seen that note or seen this issue before. I was under the impression all 8.8 2010+ pinion bearings where the same bearing?

I just wanted to get car back together today. Unable to confirm any part numbers. Will most likely be leaving work tomorrow to chase this down

I posted over there trying to find out. I found those pics on an older post using some net Kung fu. But one post conflicted the info on the f150 bearing so I have been hunting the answer all day.

Sorry, I did not read this one earlier. If you need a part number on a Sunday Duval Ford parts are open on Sunday. (904) 381-6500

Cool, thanks. But 9' clock here. I will be hitting the phone in the AM and sliding out of work to get this resolved I hope.

I realize this is an older thread. But I wanted to post up some info for those of you doing research on this, or looking for parts.

The '13-14 GT500, and '12-13 Boss with the Torsen, use a larger pinion bearing than all previous GT500's and Mustangs. As you can see in the pics above, it's considerably larger and not interchangeable when compared with the others. This bearing was originally used in the 2006-2010 Ford Explorers. It is Ford part number 6L2Z-4625-AB. They're not cheap, but they can be bought from Ford (Tasca Ford parts), or Lethal sells them, and they're available pretty cheap on Ebay.

If you call your local Ford dealer without the part number, you'll get the wrong bearing. 6L2Z-4625-AB is the bearing you need, so give them that number. If you get a 9L3Z-4630-A, it is incorrect. That bearing fits '12 and older 8.8's.

Hope that helps.

Damn, I just found this out the hard way on my '13 GT with the track package (has the Torsen differntial). It's pretty crappy that American Muscle and Late Model Restoration are basically lying on their websites saying that the pinion bearing fits all 10-14 Mustang GT's because obviously they don't if you have a Boss or a Track Package GT.
